Round One:

10. ARIZONA CARDINALS
VINCE YOUNG
Anyone who has watched the NFL Draft on television for a number of years knows there is always one big storyline to follow in round one and this year's might very well end up being Vince Young. Right now there is such a wide array of opinions on him as a prospect that he could easily go as high as #3 overall to the Titans but there are also scenarios in which he could fall as far as #13 to Baltimore. In the end the truth might lie somewhere in between with Oakland and Arizona as two likely final destinations for the talented yet unpolished signal caller. There is simply no denying Vince Young's potential and he probably has as high of an upside as any prospect that has come along in the last 10 years. However he also has a major downside and is just as likely to be a bust of epic proportions as he is to turn into a transcendent star. There is always risk when it comes to the NFL Draft, it just so happens that in Young's case the stakes are as high as ever. A phenomenal athlete with excellent size and running abilities, Young is able to do things on the football field that others don't dare dream of. However he is also extremely raw as a passer, has an unconventional delivery, struggles to read defenses, lacks great arm strength and will likely need to sit and learn for a year or two before he is ready to play in the NFL. Denny Green has a tendency to take risks in the draft and with Kurt Warner already on board he can afford to take a chance on Young and allow him develop with very little pressure.

Round Two:

41. ARIZONA CARDINALS
KO SIMPSON
Robert Griffith won't be around much longer and they still need a playmaker in the secondary.

Round Three:

72. ARIZONA CARDINALS
JEREMY TRUEBLOOD
The offensive line was terrible last year and at the very least this guy will provide some depth

I'd be all over this draft like flies on fecal matter. I'd prefer Colledge to Trueblood, but either would be a tremendous upgrade to the line.

Good draft, but if Giles were available in the 2nd, I'd take him instead.

With the long term signing of Wells and Milford Brown, plus having Elton Brown on the roster, I dont think guard is where they are looking--

I think its tackle when they go offensive line

If we go QB in Round One - either Young or Cutler (an MJ prognostication on FoxSportsAZ yesterday), I'd rather we drafted an offensive lineman with starting potential in Round 2, if the right guy was there, rather than a CB/S.

While I am sure Ko Simpson is a fine player, if the Cards go QBOF in round 1, I still want a player that addresses more directly the goal of 1. Stopping the run, or 2. Running the ball.

Heck, the Bears went 13-3 because they did 1 and 2 really, really well (and thats about all they did)

Dude.... If Young is there we would be idiots to pass him up.

I like this draft also. 1-3

living in chicago i saw that 16 times....those are our two biggest issues and however we get there we have to get those behind us....having james is certainly a nice start....now we must seriously address the OL....

Although Gilles projects best at guard, he has played RT in college. Pope has the same "potential" that Gilles does, but at a weaker position. Still, picking somebody over Gilles jjust because we have two guards already makes no sense. Gilles will become an all-pro someday. I love this guy.

We could still go guard if one is there we like. Wells can play RT.

We're all making the same mistake of assuming that the guys they project to go before us in their mock draft resemble what will actually happen on Draft Day.

Substituting the Scouts Inc. ratings board for the Draftcountdown.com mock scenario, both Pope and Gilles would be long gone before we pick at #41. In fact several mocks I've seen have both going in Round One.

This is a very tough draft to scope out because, after the Top 8 or 9 players, there are roughly 100 more players with fairly even talent. I'll bet that if you were to compare the boards of all 32 teams, the mocks projected from those boards would give you at least a dozen or two widely varying scenarios.

Unless we know what the Cardinals' board looks like (and for that matter, the boards of every other team drafting before us), trying to do a mock into the 2nd or 3rd round will be like trying to hit a moving dartboard blindfolded.

Scott Wright's my favorite prognosticator. Every since he called that Fred Taylor was going to be a stud (I drafted him in the 2nd round of my FF draft because of his write up...and ended up winning it all).

I hope that somehow the Cardinals get VDavis, but I just don't think he'll be there.

If Jean-Gilles is there in the second we'd be silly not to jump all over him. I like the Ko Simpson pick, but not at the expense of Jean-Gilles. That might hold true for Devin Joseph, the G out of Oklahoma, too.
