Another New Orleans defensive debacle has spelled the end of Rob Ryan's days as the unit's coordinator.

Multiple sources told FOXSports.com that Ryan is being removed from the position following Sunday's 47-14 loss at Washington.

The Redskins generated 526 yards of offense with Kirk Cousins posting a perfect quarterback rating of 158.3 while throwing for 324 yards and four touchdowns. The Saints also surrendered 225 rushing yards, led by Alfred Morris, who gained 104 on just 15 carries.

New Orleans ranks last in the NFL in yards allowed (424.7), points allowed (31.5) and passing touchdowns allowed (28).

LOL, I was just watching that video, once Bono gets to the line of scrimmage, no Cardinal players can be seen from either the side or rear views in the entire viewing area. Amazing.

If anyone is shaky on what it means to be out coached, this play is a prime example. The play probably came in that Marcus Allen was going to get the ball so they stack the line and run blitz on top of that. Shottenheimer knew we knew this and called this naked bootleg. 3rd and 1 and the defensive call was everyone crash the line and in the end, we ended up looking foolish. Just looking at the play by play for that game shows why Buddy Ryan never got another coaching job in the NFL again. 1st quarter we drive to the 4 yard line. 4 straight runs up the middle and the drive dies on the 1 yard line. KC goes 3 and out and again 3 straight runs up the gut on a drive that started on their 39 yard line nets nothing because Ryan doesn't want to try for a FG. This guy got lucky on an innovative defensive scheme on top of having great athletes to run it and he built it up to make people believe he was a genius. The guy was so arrogant that he made an us vs them war in his own locker room. Those Eagles teams should have won at least 1 Super Bowl but instead they couldn't win a playoff game.

Buddy Ryan was an ass, and has far more negative qualities than positive ones, but to say that "he got lucky on an innovative defensive scheme" is way, WAY off.

Ryan's innovative blitz schemes helped the Jets hold the Colts to 7 points and win Super Bowl 3. His "Purple People Eaters" went to three Super Bowls in six years in the '70s. The 46 defense he created in Chicago is still considered one of, if not THE best defense of all time. He had a hell of a D in Philadelphia and even his one year as DC of the Oilers, too.

Sure, he had great players on all of his teams, but he gets a lot of credit for developing them into the players they became. He was a horrendous head coach with the Cardinals for sure, but for a long time he was one of the top defensive minds in the league.

Exactly. I know I'm in that vast minority but I always like Buddy as a coach. Where the Cards messed up was giving him total control of the team.
