My guess is that Shin (sic?) may see this as an opportunity to move. Even 2003-04 when the Hornets were a solid playoff team, their fan support was very weak. Last year they finished nearly last for attendance.

The location of the move will tell a lot. If it's Las Vegas, I'd expect it to be a permanent move.

It isn't Shinn's choice. The league has to approve a move. In the wake of this disaster the NBA will not rip the city's franchise away from them.

The city of Tampa would be more than happy to provide a temporary home for the Hornets while New Orleans recuperates. I doubt it will happen but naturally I would not mind one bit.
A team spokesman for Palace Sports and Entertainment in Tampa also made a call to the NBA offering the St. Pete Times Forum as a home. The spokesman said the league would take it under advisement.

Kansas City is building a state of the art arena downtown, the Kings were trying to use it as leverage, as well as LV, to get a new arena in Sac. I remember the days of the Kansas City-Omaha Kings, it is kind of interesting that Missouri has two NFL teams but no NBA. I think they could draw fans from Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska as well as Missouri and Oklahoma.

Nashville has offered a few games in their city, so it is probably a temporary solution. The Hornets and the NBA could just use several different sites just to get a feel of the best place to eventually relocate the team.

Anyone else find it funny that the Kings are using their old stomping grounds as leverage to get an arena from their current home?

Sorta like a guy using flirtations from his ex wife to piss off his current girlfriend.
