Few NBA jerseys have ever so perfectly represented their City.
The Western font, of course, is a logical fit. Phoenix is a city founded by a man who fought on both sides of the Civil War, was an alcoholic and opium addict and may have killed 10 people. That Wild West font is perfect for a Wild West city.
The setting sun on the shorts is great. Obviously it reflects the teams name, and our famous AZ sunsets.
The purple is reminiscent of the sunsets and of the mountains in the distance. Not to mention the purple flowers of lantana, and prickly pears. The orange represents the sun, but also looks like the color of the desert earth at times.
The original logo is a bore, but I love the Phoenix bird logo, even if it is more or less a rip off of the old Firebirds logo.
The only thing they need to "update" is changing the font on the Bird logo to the Wetern logo and they'd be set. If they wanted to make a small teak to the old units they could add the bird emblem as a small patch on the back of the neck above the players name (and of course lengthen the shorts).
