Not a word.
Regardless.
I imagine it will be in time. It's a nonstandard word that probably will be standardized since it's used so often.

Brian In Mesa. A member of this board who is noted for his correction of grammatical and spelling errors. When someone sees a grammatical or spelling error and corrects it, they are BIMing the offending poster. Also, what does ":BIM:" mean?
I remember reading about him in school.Glad to see it. It always would have been ridiculous to put PT in the Hall of fame as some suggested. But to honor him in the hall in this fashion is completely appropriate and it appears they've done a good job with it. The NFL was lucky to be able to say that he was in the league for a little while. He and maybe a few others, Joe Delaney comes to mind (the Chief who drowned while attempting to rescue three young boys drowning in a pond), represented a type of excellence that goes way beyond football.

Main Entry: ir·re·gard·less
Etymology: probably blend of irrespective and regardless
Date: circa 1912
nonstandard : regardless
usage Irregardless originated in dialectal American speech in the early 20th century. Its fairly widespread use in speech called it to the attention of usage commentators as early as 1927. The most frequently repeated remark about it is that “there is no such word.” There is such a word, however. It is still used primarily in speech, although it can be found from time to time in edited prose. Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance. Use regardless instead.

I'm really glad to see that somehow Pat has been recognized by the HOF. I agree with what everyone has said about him not being a HOF caliber player- but it is called the Hall of FAME and not the "Hall of Stats" and unfortunately because of his sacrifice, his name is now known to almost any knowledgeable football fan.
Cool move by the NFLHOF to include something about Pat.
Anyone read Mary Tillman's book? The transcribed eulogies are well worth the price of the book. She gives a lot of background on events leading up to the memorial and how she still copes with PT's death. Anyone who has recently lost a loved one might benefit from it.... And anyone who has become desensitized to the deaths in Iraq will look at the nightly news differently after reading it. "Boots on the ground by dusk" is the title.
