Alright so I really like the hiring of Arians considering his great success at Indy after a 2-14 season. He had to step in at HC when Chuck got sick and clearly he proved that he is capable of leading an NFL team. His offensive scheme is something the Cardinals need and a great change of pace considering the 3 yard in routes Fitz ran all of last year. So I commend Bidwill for that, but losing Horton is just idiotic.

This guy led a top 10 defense and the best red zone defense in the league despite having an offense that was incapable of leading a drive that lasted longer than 2 minutes. You really can't ask Horton to do a better job than he did last season. It bothers me that they are ditching him just because Arians made a promise to one of his buddies.

If you guys didn't hear, Arians promised Todd Bowles that he would bring him in as Defensive Cordinator if he became a head coach, regardless of what team it was on. Is it just me or does that sound like a promise elementary kids would make? It just seems so silly to make a commitment like that when you dont know what the situation is before you get there. Plus, Bowles runs a 4-3 while the Cardinals have run a 3-4 scheme under Horton. Most of the time, this switch takes a good amount of time for a defense to actually adapt to and in a league that is changing into a passing league why would anyone want a 4-3 defensive scheme? Very few teams in the NFL run it anymore and the best defenses in today's league are under the 3-4 system.

It bothers me knowing that their defense can only get worse next season. There is no way the Cardinals can do better than they did last year especially under Bowles who went 1-9 last year as the replacement Eagles Defensive Cordinator. So yea that's just my opinion. Very disappointed in the Cardinals letting Horton go. Would be shocked if we win more than 5 games next season.

First off welcome.

Coaching candidates will tell the owners who they can bring in and who their dream candidates would be. There is nothing abnormal about Arians wishing for Bowles to be on his staff.

Also, you want a HC to bring guys along with him he's comfortable with instead of having a staff "forced" upon him.

Lastly, Bowles is more of a 3-4 guy, he was a 4-3 guy in Philly because he took over mid year and that's the D Philly ran.

I agree with everything you said. Todd Bowles? Really? I just hope that having these players will make Bowles look better. My gut feeling says no way. I'm hoping that's not the case.

My gut feeling tells me the Cards D will take a hit short term, but everything will be fine long term and Arians makes the Cardinals a playoff team again in three years.

Rum and coke and a #1 from chic fil a

Dont worry about losing Horton. First it is just rumor at this point although if its true that Horton had to be pbusically restrained from going after Keim then he is obviously gone.

Second there is a lot of talent on this defense. Horton waz just managing it

Third. Bowles is a 3-4 guy that got stuck with a 4-3 when he took over in the middle of the season last year.

I can understand that. I know most head coachers are stubborn and want their own staff but it just makes no sense to me why you would get rid of a guy that led one of the best defenses in the nfl. If the Cardinals had any logic, they would have made sure whatever Head Coach they got would let Horton stay. I can't imagine how the defensive players are feeling right now considering how much respect they had for Horton and now this bozo has to coach them.

And again, if the reports are true then the decision to let Horton go appears to be Keim's decision, not Arian's as a result if the fallout from the other night. One of writers tweeted that himself, if all of it is accurate as being reported.

It will be fun to watch all of this play out

Arians isn't getting rid of Horton. If Horton leaves it sounds like it by his own choosing.

Sadly it seems that Horton thought he had the job all wrapped up before interviews even began. That is the only possible way I can see him thinking that a guy like Kirby Wilson, a guy who has never been an OC at any level, would be good enough for a team in our situation. If that's the truth I feel zero pity for the guy.

Good luck to you Horton because with that temper tantrum you threw, you are going to need it

Just as an offense goes as the QB goes, the defense goes as the players go. We have good personnel on this defense and I would fully expect this defense to still be good next year with or without Horton.

Edit: I'm not saying it wouldn't be better with Horton on the staff, but just that I think it would still be good.

Where is the rumor that Horton had to be physically restrained from Keim? (just want to read it)
