Ok, just talked to my close friend in the NFL at Nike again and he did some digging. He said all he could find out was a bird based team was getting an update prior to the draft. He didn't want to ask more since people start to look at you funny, especially if it leaks after.

I worked at Nike for 5 years, so I have a lot of connections there.

A little nugget of information dropped on the original reddit thread in that the rumored color scheme is a call back to the Chicago Cardinals. What color did they wear? Maroon.
