Per MJ:

Cards are in heavy negotiations with Toler and Rashad Johnson. With the early cut of Gay today it may mean negotiations with Toler is going excellent. If RJ is re-signed before free agency we could see Wilson as the next cut. If we cant re-sign RJ, Wilson probably stays.

Still saying the Cards have no inclination to bring in or even look at Cassell if he is let go. No matter what the national media is saying.

Also negotiating with LSH. But they aren't trying to hard. Will probably see what he can do on the open market.

He says we have not even started convo's with Kolb about restructuring. Not even a phone call. Which gives credence to his thought for some time that he is not in BA's plans. Drew Stanton will most likely be a Card within the first 24 hours of free agency.

Has heard from current Cards players who have talked with soon to be UFA's and he himself has talked to soon to be UFA's that really want to play for BA and hope we give them a call.

My own nugget:

This staff is really intrigued by Texas A&M running back Christine Michael.

Licht is working phones hard, Patriots Style, judging the trade market for players and early judging on the draft. I fully expect to see more trades then we are used to this year in FA and Draft.

Great Post!

Thanks Joe.

Every tidbit seems to line up with logic.

Regarding Michael - I notice that he was supposed to have spoken with the Cardinals during Senior Bowl Week again at the Combine. (It could be that either or both interviews were to clear the area about reported character/baggage issues.

Playing Devils' Advocate: Would it kill us to re-sign Rashad and also keep A-Dub?

Christine Michael---what an enigma.

Had an excellent combine as he had the top performance in 5 of the 7 RB measurables---27 reps, 43" vertical, 125" broad jump, 6.69 3 cone, 4.02 20 yd. shuttle. Ran a 4.54 40 and has an 11.56 60 TD shuttle.

But---he oversleeps and misses two interviews (guess the Cardinals weren't one of them, but still, for a guy who lost favor with the A&M coaches...)

One of the main reasons: highly inconsistent pass protection.

Isn't this an area BA insists on?

Also, he was oft-injured at A&M...broken leg (2010), torn ACL (2011).

Looked, imo, like the most physically talented RB at the Senior Bowl.

Interesting that NFL.com likens him to Chris Ivory.

Boom or bust, sky's the limit prospect...but the red flags are difficult to condone or ignore.

We have great luck with injury prone RB's.

I like the idea of re-signing Greg Toler and Rashad Johnson, though I am not sure how commited the Cardinals would be to Johnson going forward. Would he be signed as a starter, to compete for a starting spot or just as depth?

I have no interest in Christine Michael and can't say I am excited the Cardinals are looking into another RB with a significant injury history.

Hopefully we can get the secondary shored up before the draft so we can concentrate on upgrading our front 7 though the draft unless a a really good secondary player falls to the 2nd or 3rd rounds. I would love to see a bunch of LBs added in this draft as we are very thin at the position in general. Guys like Manti Te'o, Jon Bostic, and AJ Klein would be solid additions inside, and potentially Cornellious Carradine, Jaime Collins, Cornellius Washington, Walter Stewart and Quanterus Smith would be solid outside.

Exciting to see what we do with our 2nd round pick. Some really talented players like Margus Hunt, Jonathan Cyprien, Desmond Trufant, Eric Reid, Carnellious Carradine, Sam Montgomery, Terron Armstead and Larry Warford could be available and would be really nice additions.

Exactly. Why don't we look at a legit replacement for Beannie? LeVeon Bell if he makes it to the 3rd Rd. would be fantastic.

I'm also liking Jonathan Franklin more and more. He has a chance to be very special.

I'm still praying that we can get Lacy in the 2nd. I know a lot of people don't support that, but the kids an animal. Would love to have him wearing Cardinal red and playing in Az.

Regarding Kolb: read an interesting quote from Licht, talking about no body in particular (in the context of the quote) "people are who they are - you can't hope that they will change"

It makes me wonder if they have decided that Kevin simply can't stay healthy for 16 games. It is who he is, and they aren't going to hope he can change that.

Yeah it doesn't sound like he'll be here. They'll probably cut him and take the 7.5m saving putting us almost 14m under the cap. Enough to re-sign Toler and Johnson plus our draft picks.

Lacy is a fantastic back...would love to have him...but would love to have others in that slot as well...for the first three rounds I am seeing Warmack, Montgomery, Bray...but Montee Ball in the fourth would be cool too...he aint Lacy, but he has game.

Le'Veon Bell would be tremendous. He's the anti-Beanie.
I've seen a bunch of MSU games. We don't want Bell. I'm not a huge Montae Ball fan but he's miles better than Bell, as is Wells.

Sorry, I watched a lot of Falcon games this year and he is done. Most of the time it takes him about 3 days to reach the line of scrimmage from the handoff.

Would much rather have Mwelde Moore than Turner. Turner has slowed down considerably the last few years. I agree he looks done.

Zac Stacy of Vanderbilt is a guy I'd like in the 5th round.

Short, compact frame at 5'8 216 lbs. Ran a respectable 4.55 40. Put up 225 27 times. Had the second best 3-cone time with a 6.70. Ran a 4.17 in the short shuttle.

He's a one cut back who is more powerful than you'd expect and rarely goes down at first contact. He does a good job in pass protection. He's a great kid who will always give everything he has on the field. He's been used quite a bit at Vandy, but that's not too unusual.

Christine Michael. Height, weight?
Ran a 4.54 at the combine. Weighed 220. Concerns about attitude/coachability. One scout described him as a guy who does best in All Star games where the coaches keep things simple and let you play. ("a high-rep guy, and has a lot of issues.")

Per Toler's agent via Kent Somer's blog, this would be news to him. Haven't talked to the Cards since the Combine.
