They started to accumulate too many penalties. That’s likely the sign of fatigue caused by all the injuries and a lack of roster depth. I completely disagree that they didn’t compete. They win the Panters game outright if Connors isn’t injured, resulting in the Cards’ top 3 RBs out. A fluke cost them the Rams game.
They win the Vikings game if the false start penalty was correctly called as defensive offsides

Plus had 14-2 Minnesota on the rope in their stadium only to lose by 1. To say they haven't been competitive is juts being argumentative. Definitely agree the lack of depth on the roster and rookie fatigue has played a big part in the losses.

I think C is going to need to wait a year. Fro and Gaines is fine for the short term.

I am certain you were on the draft thread with me freaking out that Zach Frazier was there when we took Melton.

He has been excellent for the Steelers.

If an upgrade is there over Fro in rounds 2 or 3 you have to take it

Exactly. Kind of crushes the idea that Monti has been a great drafter.

It's because the team sucked we are playing these picks, it doesn't make them the best picks at the time or the right fit.

With the depth of the defensive front 5 class in this upcoming draft, I don't see a C right now I would be willing to take. Round 3 is probably the earliest for me, and I don't know that I am finding a better option there.

But I am correct right that we both wanted Frazier with that Melton pick?

The Steelers would laugh their asses off if we offered both Robinson and Melton for Frazier right now.

Drafting a G way before I’m drafting a C.
Beginning in round 3, I am likely targeting OL and WR (depends on the class of course). G probably fills the most immediate need, but C is worth consideration. Same with OT. That being said, I am not loving the mid round depth of either of these positions. It's early and that can change.

At this rate, maybe Denzel Burke falls and we just make him a FS.

Anybody look at the potential draft position swing with a won or lose this week?

The schedule difference is immense

I was talking about Melton because he was a Rutgers guy and a DB that that overlapped pretty obviously what Belichick guys want. ;)

Yeah I am just trying to remember who else wanted Frazier when we picked Melton

He could turn out to be a great CB. He could also be out of the league in 2 years. Very hard guy to evaluate. He’s had great years and bad years.

If the Cards look OG, Donovan Jackson is ad good as there is.

Sure but the guy they could have taken is going to be a pro bowler/alternate as a rookie.

Draft position is so irrelevant.

The teams that know how to draft and grade talent grab it no matter the draft position.

MO has had great draft position and hasn't grabbed anyone that makes us all sit and and say that was an amazing draft.

That could change but I am losing hope.

You could play that game with any team. Melton has looked pretty good and has the makings of nice starting CB in the league. Those are always more valuable than interior linemen.
What hurts is when you pass on guys at the same position, like Terry McLaurin, who I was wanting badly, to take an Andy Isabella.
