The depressing thing is that there's almost nothing you can do to improve this team this offseason. You won 13 games and the division. You're almost forced to just run it back and hope for a different outcome as long as you have Palmer-Fitz-Floyd.

The Cardinals got beat up front on both sides of the ball. Carolina was able to consistently generate pressure with just 4 linemen. When the Cardinals were on defense they couldn't get to Cam rushing 6. That was where this game was lost.

Thanks for doing these. I do believe the Cards can get more physical on defense in one offseason. I do agree that we will have to accept some holes heading into next season.

Well, that and poor tackling on the secondary, poor decision making by Palmer and several dropped passes.

Also, I think Jefferson, based on his play to end the season, may take Rashad Johnson's spot. Hope that means we keep Swearinger, because we need some attitude on the defense.

You do not thing upgrading the offensive line a bit, and getting a pass rusher or two will not help ? Both are very hard to do, but it would help.

Carson Palmer is the wild card, but that has always been the case.

BTW, 100% agree with this:

"Harold Goodwin, OC – Goodwin is primarily responsible for coordinating and designing the running game for the Arizona Cardinals. It’s a mystery why Goodwin and Arians decided that the best way to attack the fastest linebacking corps in the NFL is with runs that started moving parallel to the sideline."

I don't know what Goodwin was thinking, but it was pure jackassery.

It was Palmer's play that doomed the Cards, imo. Some of the lapses in overall play would have been greatly reduced if not for horrendous decision making on his part. That pick at the end of the 1st half was just completely inexcusable. A leader just can't do that, he just can't regardless of the pressure he was under...throw the damn thing to one of Cam's kids in the stands!!!

Carson looked like I did on the back 9 choking away a 4 stroke lead in the club championship... which I did, sigh. I need to sign a new driver...lol

Thanks for doing these all year K9. Much appreciated!!

What really bothered me about Palmer was that Carolina was giving him anything he wanted underneath. On every INT there were open receivers underneath. Carolina, in case no one notices, game planned their defense exactly the same way Minnesota did. They were not going to get beat deep and yet we kept going deep. No risk it, no biscuit my ass.

If you think that both the DC & OC are goats, you have to really include the HC Arians as the buck stops with him and the overall game plan is his. I like BA but he ultimately is to blame for the poor performance of the team..

The announcers mentioned it a few times that Wr's were open underneath but Palmer also missed some really short throws to the wide open RBs that would have probably gone for first downs.

Just an overall bad game played on both sides of the ball.

I don't know — just because you're going to have to take someone off the field. I think the best-case scenario is:

1) Corey Peters comes back strong and Gunter builds on a rookie year.
2) Rashad Johnson leaves as a free agent or comes back at $2M per year
3) Tony Jefferson moves back with Deone Bucannon playing next to him.
4) Daryl Washington comes back to play ILB next to Lenon. (Psych! We draft someone to play next to Lenon) Or we somehow sign Derrick Johnson to a short-term contract.

You do not thing upgrading the offensive line a bit, and getting a pass rusher or two will not help ? Both are very hard to do, but it would help.

Where are you going to upgrade the offensive line? Are you going to sink more money or/and draft picks into that position? We have Veldheer/Iupati/Cooper/Humphries. The FA center class is garbage.

I actually think that the offensive line even played well yesterday; Palmer had time to throw — he just couldn't stop throwing to the other team.

My guess is that we spend to sign an edge free agent. I think we will look to re-sign our secondary. In the draft we will address ILB and DE in the first two rounds. That will address the defense a bit.

On offense, I'm calling the signing of Dwayne Allen right now. They will re-sign Larsen, and sign a vet RT equivalent to Larsen. C will continue to be an issue. Probably will go after a vet RB as well for depth.

We can't improve the pass rush this offseason?

That one series of downs where we tried to get cute made me think that at some point during the week, at least two people on the coaching staff said, "Yeah, this would be a great plan!"

I think the Dwayne Allen call is a good one. For whatever reason, I think the vet RTs name is Bradley Sowell.

Despite how everyone was bashing Powers (when he was hurt), we need to keep him, and probably draft another CB. I think there is a reasonable chance Honey Badger isn't ready for the start of the season, and Powers is very good in the slot, and a decent option outside.

Panthers D really poses some difficulties. Really tough to run directly at & around. Loutuilei, Short and Keuchley are as good a combo as there is. They should have tried some more off tackle then wide, but I guess they thought they could use the WR's to spring some runs.
Also it was evident they game planned to take away the deep patterns. Palmer also helped with poor decision making and not gtaking what they were willing to give. Not patient enough obviously. Not quick enough adjusting by either Palmer or BA/Caldwell.
Our D did nothing, pretty much to compensate for the O's lack of any continuity early on.
ST's as well. Really poor on punt coverage. Butler needs to be upgraded if they can.
