There's a huge difference between the two conferences this year going into the playoffs.

In the NFC, when you look at seeds 1 to 6, you really can't say it'd be much of a shock to see ANY of them go to the Super Bowl or be one and done. IMO, it's the most wide open field of teams I can remember.

In the AFC, it's much more traditional, with SD and Indy being heads and shoulders above everyone else. It's really hard to visualize someone 3 to 6 beating both of them to make it to Miami.

I really like where we are in the NFC, it's going to be exciting. If we were sitting at #4 in the AFC, it'd be much more daunting.

I would agree on what you said about the AFC until the Colts once again rested starters late in the year. Don't be surprised if Cincinnati knocks out Indy in the Divisional Round.

I would be surprised if Cinci didn't knock them out to be honest.

Yep, i posted this soon after I got home yesterday, before i really knew what happened in that game.

That said, Cincy did poorly against KC yesterday. Hardly gives me confidence that they will bounce the Colts out.

the offense is worrisome, but they can always seem to get a drive together when needed. Obvious exceptions are the Texans game and the Vikings game. What the Bengals lack is consistency.

That said, I think they do at least win 1 game in the playoffs. Perhaps more, because once you're in, anything can happen.

My cherished dream of a Bengals-Cardinals Superbowl is alive
the cards wouldn't be a shock. but no one is talking about the bungals. even after winning the toughest division in the conference(sweeping at that) they are not getting much respect. 0 pro bowlers will just piss them off that much more. SD is due for a loss. they are playing a lot of close games and for me that spells playoff letdown. I could be wrong, but I've seen many teams fall in that scenario(like the cowboys and pats in 2007, oilers several times, colts, broncos, dolphins, etc). I'm not sold that the colts can't be defeated either...why are they not going for the undefeated season? you never want to waive a white flag in this sport it just messes with these guys' heads. especially THAT team...see years past. i like the bungals they are my surprise SB pick. they have it all. tough defense, run game, prolific pass game. and they play smart football. they aren't going to give a game away. I think we may see a N.E./Bengals AFC championship...

That would be so awesome. I think a lot of people would have a hard time getting past the last decade or so of ineptness by both teams but that would be such an interesting matchup. Fitz and Boldin against the Bengals' very underrated secondary. Ochocinco vs DRC.

I've always been a fan of the Colts, but after last week, I hope they go out early. Their fans payed good money to watch that Jets game & the Colts laughed in the face of history. I will laugh my ass off when they lose in the playoffs & they WILL lose.

NFC

I think the best team in football right now is the Chargers, but I can easily see any of the NFC playoff teams upsetting them. It's one of the best years for playoffs in forever.
"Any given Sunday" really describes it this year.

I'll bet the Colts are happy to see San Diego get the #2 seed this year.

Rumor has it that Jim Tressel has secretly taken over the Cincinnati offense. There's no other explanation that a team with Carson Palmer, Chad Johnson, and Laverneous Coles consistently passes for under 150 yards per game.
