I was impressed with the way Leinart bounced back after going 6-18 in the second half to work that last drive. (Only to have Rackers miss the FG.:bang:)

People forget that the Cards threw the ball as much as they ran it in the second half. The problem was that they ran Edge up the middle on the first play of every drive but one while they had the lead. There was only one drive where the Cards had less than 2nd and 8 after the first play. Which probably explains why Leinart threw 12 incompletions in 18 attempts.

I just watched this a couple hours ago and saw the same thing in Matt, I was much impressed. It reinstated my feeling that we have a good QB for a few years. On the downside, I changed the channel immedietly after the missed FG as I found myself PO'd which I didn't think would happen again.

there's three reasons why I LOVE this game:

1) The text messages that I kept in my phone from my friend Stu, who was at the game that went as follows: HOLY S$#T! (after our second td)... STILL HOLDING! (at halftime)... I have a bad feeling (RIGHT BEFORE THE FIRST DEFENSIVE TD)... They're going to lose (right AFTER the first defensive TD)... and SUPERBOWL! (right after Rackers missed the kick).

2) This game, more than anything else assured us that DG WOULD BE GONE! Thank the lord for that.

3) This board was absolutely at it's all-time peak of hilarity. People were coming up with such zingers, it was as if the loss was so painful, that it somehow had the opposite effect and turned everyone into circa-mid-80's Eddie Murphy on sports. Seriously, Ouchie and I were just sitting in his house, laughing about the game, but cracking up hysterically at the pure genius that was being strewn across this board. My favorite was Cardinals.Ken's RACKERSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! over the picture of Captain Kirk.

One positive, I took out of watching it (yes I did break down and put it on.) was witnessing just how good this team can be. I honestly can't recall the last time I saw us come out and smack a team around as much as we did the Bears that night. Emotionally I was in uncharted territory those first 3 quarters...

That's a really good point. I had that same feeling. Man, the Cards looked incredible that night (before the collapse).

Thing of it is, though, that it's hard to keep your players selling out their bodies and playing at so high a level without occasionally validating that effort with a win.

The question some of us posed after that game was whether (a) the players would use that game as a launching pad to "prove" they really were as good as they looked for the first 42:00 minutes or (b) they'd head due-south. It took another half-dozen games or so for the team to start heading north again.

Although a lot of other stuff happened during the season, it seems pretty apparent now that the loss to the Bears (and the reaction of DG and the players) greased the skids for Dennis.

I walked into the gym yesterday and there it was on every friggen flat screen! 4:32 left and we are up 23-10. I couldn't watch the whole thing. I still think the fumble by James is a joke call and Rackers missing that FG was just a dagger in my heart.

56 minutes of that game was some of the best Cardinal football I have ever watched....but 4 minutes of it, ripped my guts out.

There were some really good cathartic posts. Is the thread in the Hall of Fame?
