Both DJ and Palmer were healthy last year and the team went 7-8-1 and looked mediocre doing it so the Palmer and DJ aren't here this season argument really doesn't hold water.

I'm not saying it it's the read I got from BA's interview. I'm afraid he believes it and we do this again next year. I think Palmer is done and I want BA gone because IMO he holds no one accountable and is allowing things to keep getting worse.

If he can rally the troops and achieve an 8-8 record, that would at least show the players are fighting for their HC. If this happens, he can stay if he chooses not to retire, albeit a new STC and maybe even DC are a MUST.

Where will these new and improved coaches come from, which goes back to my original point. Huge competition for coaches and who wants ass'ts. from lousy teams whose HC got fired.

Not going to be easy to get good coaches to come in for a head coach that is on the Last year of his contact.

It was us going 8-8 in 2011 that allowed Whiz to stay on another year.

and this is only one of the problem we'll face with a lame-duck coach.

We won't be able to attract great coordinators because of the lame duck status.

FAs will question what the future holds with a coaching staff that will likely be gone the next year.

And MOST important, this team HAS TO DRAFT A QBOTF this year, but it makes ZERO sense for Bruce to have input on that guy if he ain't gonna be coaching him moving forward. Or we can punt there AGAIN and be stuck in the same position we've been in... forever.

Look... we're old, getting older, have been mediocre AT BEST with Palmer and have average to below average coordinators. You know how Keim says he likes to move on from players a year rather than a year too late? Well... same goes for coaches.

This run is done. It sucks, but it's done. We need to move on or we'll just spend ANOTHER year like the last two seasons. This off-season is the time to get a new coach, a new coach who has input for HIS QBOTF, get in new coordinators, new blood and start moving forward. We're stuck in purgatory right now and another year there just delays the inevitable.

I would like to keep BA but unless he can tell this organization he can go five more years for the all important aspect of drafting a young QB for a stable system the young guy is meant for and willing to drop a few loose screws like Amos... you are right

I just look at it this way. Smart teams don’t start a new regime and saddle them with a leftover young QB taken the previous season and this team can’t afford to wait another year to draft one.

Last year was the mulligan. But the problems from last year (D and ST) incredibly got WORSE this year (sans our punter... our coverage team still sucks there). Lame duck coaches with a foot out the door shouldn’t determine the future if this team.

Agree with all this. Time to move on and get some new blood in here.

Now the question is will SK and MB bring in the right guy or will they try to use someone on the existing staff which isn't performing?

If the team as you say moves on from BA there won't be much hold over. The new coach will select his staff...IMO

Sean McVay, Jared Goff, and the Rams disagree with this statement.

Great. Of course it CAN work out, but Do you think it’s smart to have a lame duck coach have input on the most important position in Football that will effect the team for the next decade?

It all depends. In the Cardinals case, I don't think it would be bad to have Tom Moore and Bruce Arians provide their input on a QB selected. Tom Moore has probably seen every NFL QB the last 30-40 years. They both know a helluva a lot about the position and have had a lot of success coaching it. If you were asking a Harold Goodwin, that would be different.

Bottom line is the GM has to be strong enough to make the call.

Coaches who did not help themselves yesterday;

1. Marvin Lewis - home game loss to Bears by 20 something
2. Chuck Pagano - wrong end of a blizzard game
3. Todd Bowles - lost to Broncos in a blowout
4. Mike Mularkey - watching his team fade down the stretch run
5. Jay Gruden - another horrible performance by Redskins

6. Jack del Rio - fading away with another loss in their division

the message has already been sent to Del Rio when his DC was fired. I think they like him and he sticks around a bit longer to try and right the ship. feel for the guy, poorly run org

I think Del Rio stays, rumor has it... he is the only one who can cut Mark Davis' hair just the way he likes it.

2. Chuck Pagano - wrong end of a blizzard game
3. Todd Bowles - lost at home to Broncos in a blowout
4. Mike Mularkey - watching his team fade down the stretch run

Mularkey's offense is absolute garbage and is going to turn Mariota into a head case if he is allowed to run it another year. Not only has the guy been fired as a HC twice he was also once DEMOTED from OCt o TE Coach.

Okay, now the firings have begun and predictably the competition for those jobs may not be up to the task. At least the retread coaches are falling by the wayside.

So far;

Jack del Rio - Gruden anyone?
John Fox - Bears... got to go for an O coach QB guru
Jim Caldwell - Lions - ??????
Chuck Pagano - Colts -all depends on Andy Luck
Ben McAdoo - Giants - landing spot for Josh McDaniel

and counting.... next up

Bill O'Brien
Bruce Arians
Mike Mularkey
Marvin Lewis
Hue Jackson
Vance Joseph

Time for the young guns to get these jobs
