I can't blame them. If the Cards had displayed a better ability to run the ball, and stop the other teams' #1s in pre season things might be different.

But what can we expect when our new starting QB had a 45 QB rating last year and our stud first round RB looked anemic. The D might be better but who is going to know that outside of the die hard Cards fans and other teams OC's.

On paper this years team is significantly weaker than last year's. We just are going to have to live with that until they win some games.

that is no good

if you start the season too low in the BCS rankings, even with wins you cant climb high enough for a BCS bowl invitation, much less playing for the Nat'l Championship game.

If only the NFL had a playoff system -- that would make these BS rankings worthless

Don't they know the Cards went 3-1 in the preseason?

I don't think it's being unfair either. On paper, I'd rate us as a "no way in hell they're making the playoffs" team if I wasn't a Cards fan. Being a Cards fan, I have some optimism that I hope to see justified.

I think there are going to be a lot of surprised skeptics in the weeks ahead...we are not as helpless as some may think.

Waltersports has the Cards as one of their underrated teams:

Arizona Cardinals - Everyone has the 49ers winning the NFC West. The Cardinals must have a huge chip on their shoulder right now. Yes, Kurt Warner, Anquan Boldin and Karlos Dansby are gone, but this team still has a ton of talent. And Matt Leinart is finally gone, so that's a good thing.

Awesome. Considering how well they've read the Cards in the past, this is terrific news.

The D can wreak havoc. They need to stay healthy. Then anything is possible.

Personally , I like this teams chances.

Defense -

Bert Berry, Chike Okeafor, Karlos Dansby, Antron Rolle, Pass McInterferencefadden.

All gone. All part of a D that allowed 90 points in two games. Dansby is the only real loss because of his leadership. Dockett I think has taken this over and Joey Porter and Daryl Washington are looking like solid pickups. I think we'll be better, more solid on defense, especially our pass defense with Toler and Rhodes in place.

Offense -

Anquan didn't play in the playoffs last year. Mike Gandy was good but aging. Kurt Warner was awesome but aging and fumble prone, less last year than recent years though. Jeremheemomeoeeheeme Urban's fumble ended our season. Reggie wells was upgraded to Alan Faneca.

Had this all happened 2 years ago, I'd say Boldin would be a major loss. Now? Warner is the only major loss I see.

So from all that, IMO the major losses are Warner and Dansby. Are those two players really the difference between a super bowl run and 4-12? I don't buy it. We're too talented and we've reloaded at most all other positions. If DA and this offense can put up 21 a game and limit turnovers, i think we have a real chance at a playoff run this year.

No different than the past (except for a couple of Kurt Warner years). Nothing better than to watch our team climb the rankings list each week!! Go Cards!!!
