With the 2025 NFL draft nearing closer by the day, the Cleveland Browns are still in the market for a quarterback. Could they turn to Jalen Milroe if they opt to pass on a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick?

The Alabama quarterback put on a show at his Pro Day. Milroe had the NFL anticipating his performance at Alabama's Pro Day after a disappointing combine. Milroe got to show off his physical traits as he ran a blazing 40-yard dash. He finished the day positively by showing off his arm talent in the passing drills. Milroe had a great day and should have solidified himself as the third-best quarterback in the draft.

Milroe skipped running the 40-yard dash at the combine to focus on throwing the ball. Milroe’s patience paid off as he registered a 4.37 unverified 40-yard dash at the Pro Day. Milroe is the most athletic quarterback prospect in the draft. At 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, he’s amassed over 1,200 rushing yards and 32 rushing touchdowns over the past two seasons.

Teams and draft analysts tend to normalize hand-timed 40-yard dashes by adding five-hundredths of a second to the time. Five-hundredths of a second is generally the discrepancy between hand-timed and laser-timed 40-yard dashes. Milroe proved that he has plenty of speed to punish defenses in the NFL.

Milroe finished his Pro Day by competing in throwing drills. The script was created by Milroe’s quarterback coach Jordan Palmer. The two have been in the lab refining Milroe’s footwork during the draft season. Milroe’s hard work paid off. Milroe was accurate in drills, he threw 52 passes completing 45 of them. Milroe has the arm strength to make any throw on the field, but his feet being misaligned is a significant source of his inaccuracy.

Milroe is a fascinating draft prospect. The quarterback is a powerful athlete with the physical tools to dominate in the NFL. Milroe has the mental abilities to play in the NFL. New Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Tommy Rees had success calling plays for Milroe. The two were a miss-snap away from being National Champions in 2024. The Browns should strongly consider Milroe to be their signal caller next season.

If the Browns decide Milroe is their guy, they must draft him in the second round after his Pro Day performance.
