The New York Giants heavily scouted Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders this past season but did their presence at his games go beyond what was made public?
Admitting he had not confirmed the rumors with general manager Joe Schoen, NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah shared word on Thursday that the Giants attended every Colorado game this season, essentially following Sanders around the country.
"I was told by someone, outside the Giants organization but someone inside the league, that said the Giants had a presence at every single Colorado game this year," Jeremiah said on Thursday's 40s and Free Agents podcast. "They were following Shedeur Sanders around the entire season."
Jeremiah recently joined ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. and mocked Sanders to the Giants with Abdul Carter going second overall to the Cleveland Browns and believes that's exactly how the 2025 NFL draft will play out.
"Why is Shedeur Sanders good enough for the Giants at three, but yet not good enough for the Browns at two? That's a common question, and I can explain it this way," Jeremiah said. "With Abdul Carter being there, premium player, premium position, that's a tougher decision when you're choosing between those two options. Obviously, he's off the table here for the Giants."
Although Sanders is dropping down draft boards, it's becoming increasingly likely that he lands with the Giants at No. 3 overall, particularly if the Browns stay put and take Carter second overall.
It remains possible that a quarterback-needy team attempts to trade up ahead of the Giants but all current trends seem to suggest a Cam Ward-Carter-Sanders start to April's draft.
