There is no such thing as a "private" business being exempt from laws. Every business in America is highly regulated by every level of government. From the ADA to OSHA to smoking bans.

We have a constitutional right to be free from unreasonable search and seizure if I remember correctly.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

But then this is better suited for the P&R board.

I agree, but
1) are airport searches now unconstitutional? Same thing.
2) Everyone is searched entering the building, not just this teacher
3) is the stadium funded by the city? It may be a "public place" despite the franchise being owned by a person. That's also debatable. A lot of stadiums are owned by the city, not the franchise owner.
4) Were the searches disclosed on ticket stubs, etc?

The searches were not discriminatory, and are voluntary. You wanna come in, you get searched. You refuse? We won't follow you out to your car and search you. To me that's the difference between the illegal search and siezure clause and this requirement of the business to enter their facility.

Whomever classifies this as a search has no clue as to what they are talking about.

Pariah is 100% correct. Nobodys rights are being violated here.

But by entering the game, you are volunteering for the search. It's not forced upon you.

Is it always illegal if someone takes your money? No, it's not if you give it to them. Think of the search as part of the price of admission.

On the other hand the search is preventing you from attending the game if you are opposed to it. And the you can just stay home(if the smoke in the bar bothers you) argument has long been refuted in this country.

However, I'm sure some court somewhere has ruled these type searches as not being "unreasonable".

Just because it is allowed doesn't mean it isn't in violation of the first amendment. The constitution has been bent and twisted by judicial interpretation probably since before the ink was dry.

This come back to the key point. Your constitutional rights are yours until they infringe on anothers. I can't kill people and claim it my freedom of religious worship because my prophet tells me to kill people.

Your the only one bending the 1st ammendment. What you go through to enter the game is not a search.

Been to a game lately? It is a pat down that creates a huge line and major delay going in to the stadium. And for what? This policy is idiotic. Let's say someone did want to blow up a bunch of people. They are already in a huge crowd by the time they are getting searched so they could still do it.

This policy has been a major inconvenience and the NFL is stupid for putting it in place. While I don't agree with the premise of this guy's suit, I wish more fans like him stand up, band together, and tell the NFL to shove this policy sideways..

Stop letting stupid terrorist threats ruin our way of life!

Either stop going to games, or show up early enough to be in the front of the line. Stop whining!

Obviously the ACLU doesn't agree with you.

The ACLU is full of nutjobs and headcases. Just because they are the ACLU doesnt make them right. If you subscribe to that organizations ideals I feel sorry for you.

So you think that human rights are irrelevant? That whoever has the power should be able to do whatever they please?

Not me.

Nope I dont subscribe to that at all. But the ACLU goes way overboard in their stance on rights violations.

The US supreme court clearly states that a patdown is not a search. But hey what do they know.
