What is your best guess without Googling the answer?

What RB holds the record for the highest average per carry for a whole season? Addendum: Of the 10 best seasons ever recorded for highest average per carry, he holds 3 of them. And for RBs only who played in over 60 games, he holds the top 3 spots or seasons.

Jahvid Best, I thought, had the highest average for a whole season. The announcers talked about him and em they brought up Alvin Kamara on their Thursday night game against Atlanta 2 weeks ago. However, I don’t think best played 3 seasons???

Guess number 2 would be Barry Sanders

I think that would rule out Gale Sayers.

.....I am angry with myself, I should know this.

Edit: I take that back. I didn't know this, and would have never guessed. Makes sense though once you find out who it is.

I would guess B Sanders, as well. Or maybe Herschel Walker but he may not have played long enough...

I got lazy and although I didn't Google it, I did look it up and none of you are even close and bravo to SBF for throwing us all a curve.

Some hints needed I see. Well here is Hint #1: He never seems to be mentioned at all when discussions of great RBs come up on any TV sports shows. I suppose it is because none of the current sports people were alive when he was running wild in the pre-SB era and just don't realize how good he was over a distinguished 12 year NFL career starting, which began with him being named Rookie of the Year and ended with his induction into the HoF.

This last hint should find us a winner (who didn't look it up): He participated in the "Greatest Game Ever Played."

With the additional hints, it would have to be one of two individuals! I guessed the wrong one! :billthecat:

I looked it up. If it's the one I think it is, you're right I have never heard of him. Good stuff!

P.S. - It bums me out that so many of the really key players, who paved the way for the explosion of the league’s popularity, are all too often forgotten.
