Great coverage of the team.

Nice interview with Green
Loved it when anchor asked him best and worst case scenario questions.

Best case how much will play Leinhart
Green 'few quarters preseason no games during the season' "competing with Navarre :) '

How do deal with the fans if you start 0-3
Green "We can't go 0-3.... we will not go 0-1"

Should repeat tonight 9:30 ESPN

I just can't see A. Smith handling our defense at home. The stadium will be wild. We have to beat San Fran at home.

Sweet Christmas, that guy is really going to hate facing us twice a year. I would love to see a line rotation with constant pressure and Wilson blitz at least once a series to keep that kid's head spinning from last season.

I didnt like Greens answer about Leinart. The answer I wouldve liked to have heard:

"We are going to blow teams out with a powerful offense and solid D, giving Matt a chance for some snaps late game"

As much as I would have liked to see that too, there is no way that he could watch it. If we were 11-5 rather than 5-11 last year, I could see it.

Can anyone truly believe that an old school coach (like Bill Parcells, for example) would say something like that?

The HC's job is to win games, not be a fearless forecaster. (The good ones win first and then explain later how they did it). A more appropriate response might be: "We are what we are. We'll just have to see."

Anyone who walks out of the stadium that day with their voice, isnt a real fan. Period.

As part of that program one of the commentators said that Denny is not happy with the arrangement he has with the Bidwills and Graves. They indicated he wanted more authority/power. The commentator also suggested the San Diego coaching job may open up next year and that if Denny does not get some resolution to this problem he ?????????? The commentator seemed to be a knowledgeable guy about the Cards and is one of the ESPN regulars.

I didn't see the program, but this sounds like total speculation based on Denny's past. Denny isn't a role player, unless that role is "Supreme-Being-In-Charge-Of-Everything". He already appears to have more control of the team that any coach since Buddy. If he can get the team winning, that may open the door to more (HC/GM/VP Football Operations). It seems like they could have reported this the day Denny was hired since Bill Sr. did not offer him ownership of the team.:)

Ehhh...who knows?

I'd guess it's a large measure of "connect the dots" by the commentator. Denny made a power play in Minnesota, he has a home in Del Mar and Schotty has a good chance of being fired this year.

They do have sort of a point. Although I think they took the conjecture a little to far.

There have been various rumors and comments from Denny himself that could be construde in such a way that he isnt happy with a few of the choices from the powers that be. And he isnt speaking of Mike B., but Billy boy.

MJ has stated that Mike B. and Green both wanted to get another LB and another CB/DB in this offseason, they still have the money for it and enough to re-sign some people during the season. But Mr. Bill closed them off and arent allowed to use any more money. Green would be happier not really if he had more control but if Mike was given more control from his father. Green and Mike are on the same page and would do more if Bill would give them a chance to. Jurecki usually doesnt say good things about the B's but he gave his opinion that if Mike B. was given full control from his father the Cards would be playoff contenders every year becuase Mike really wants to win badly.

I didn't think the 49ers would beat anyone last year but they ended up beating the Rams on opening day.

I'm really concerned about the 49's. I just hope we're ready. At least they won't be able to prepare for us like they did the Rams........far to many changes in our offense.

How did you arive at that.

He had a five second blurb-rant at the end of a thorough analysis and a interview segment done by others who did their research.

His was merely speculation and guessing.

Per your breakdown no less. "indicated" "suggested"

IMHO It was the glaring weak spot in otherwise excellent segment. Part of "it bleed it leads" 'newstainment' garbage.

We can't lose to the 49ers. I doubt it will be a cakewalk, but we'll win. Their coach sounds a lot like Dave McGinnis when he was our coach- trying to put a good spin on garbage:

49ers | Nolan has higher expectations for A. Smith in 2006
Fri, 28 Jul 2006 23:01:43 -0700

During his press conference, San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Nolan said his expectations are higher for QB Alex D. Smith in his second season. Nolan said, "My expectations are higher. His should be higher. Our football teams' are higher, of him. All of that applies that pressure to him. If you're a competitor, as all of the players are out here, that pressure should not disrupt what you are doing. If anything, it should make you compete at a higher level. When you pump up the competition on the football field, you find out real quick who the competitors are. Those are the guys you win championships with. Those are the guys I'm looking for. If somebody backs down to the competition, you might be the starter, but if I see that, and when I see that, that guy is really on a fast track to being the backup."

49ers | Nolan comfortable with his third quarterback situation
Fri, 28 Jul 2006 23:01:15 -0700

During his press conference, San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Nolan said he is confident the team will be okay with their No. 3 quarterback. Nolan said, " I think the two guys that we have competing for that right now will give us a good third. We also have [RB] Michael Robinson and [WR] Arnaz Battle. We have a lot of guys that if it just doesn't pan out, and nobody grabs it, we've got a third guy. I'm confident that we're going to be okay at that situation.

49ers | Team concerned about WR position
Fri, 28 Jul 2006 21:53:26 -0700

Matt Maiocco, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports the San Francisco 49ers see the wide receiver position as an area concern because of WR Arnaz Battle's (knee) troublesome right knee. Battle, a projected starter, is scheduled to practice once a day because of irritation in his knee that causes swelling. The condition kept him out of six games last season and less than full strength for all but 2 ½ games. "There are no moves or anything right now," head coach Mike Nolan said. "We've talked quite a bit and we've been talking for a while about several guys. I don't want to say something's brewing, because it's not. Obviously, you want to know if the price is right. Right now, nothing is on the table."

From Day 1, I never expected Green to be a long-term fixture in AZ. The Cardinals hired him to turn this ship around & he's an eyelash from doing it. He's transformed a roster of GARBAGE into a talent-laden group with tremendous upside. I never thought DG was a great game-day coach, but he knows how to assemble talent & EVENTUALLY, talent wins. Green is too headstrong to last in AZ beyond 4 -5 yrs. The key is to turn this thing around, create W's & then bring in a younger coach (maybe Pendergast) to maintain continuity. I'll be surprised if it plays out differently. Even if he left tomorrow, I would praise him for doing the hard part the past 2 yrs.
