Most media members are split on what the New England Patriots are going to do with the No. 4 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft.
That's no surprise considering their options will heavily depend on what the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants do with the No. 2 and No. 3 picks. The Tennessee Titans likely showed their hand at No. 1 when canceling private workouts with Colorado wide receiver Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
They're in the market for a quarterback, and Miami's Cam Ward is projected as the top option in the draft. The Giants and Browns both need quarterbacks as well, but there's no certainty that they love Sanders enough to make him a top-three draft pick.
New England would probably love for Hunter or even Penn State's Abdul Carter to fall to them at No. 4, but they're going to need some serious help to turn that pipe dream into a reality.
Here's the latest roundup of mock drafts for the Patriots this week:
USA TODAY's Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz: "At the annual league meeting, Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf said the team wouldn't be boxed in by needs and would instead focus on taking the best player available at No. 4. This scenario would certainly test his commitment to that stance. While taking a left tackle has to be in play given how problematic New England's current protection plan for Drake Maye looks, Carter would be without peer among the prospects available as a potential game-wrecker for Mike Vrabel and a defense that ranked last with just 28 sacks in 2024."
NFL.com's Rhett Lewis: "Upgrading the offensive line and protecting Drake Maye should be of the highest priority for the Patriots. Mike Vrabel apparently isn't hung up on Campbell’s suboptimal arm length, and the LSU tackle could immediately become New England's best O-lineman."
NBC Sports' Connor Rogers: "All right, let’s start to spice this up. After the three players above, the tier of prospect starts to level off a bit. While many have bailed on being excited about McMillan, I’m not ready to waver. New England needs to get Drake Maye a big, physical perimeter target. McMillan and Stefon Diggs would be a much-needed improvement at wide receiver, and they can capitalize on the depth of the offensive line class on Day 2."
The Athletic's Nick Baumgardner: "Carter’s foot situation certainly complicates matters, though I wouldn’t rule him out as a top-three selection here. If he’s healthy, Carter has a chance to be the best pro in this class. Foot injuries are very scary, however."
Pro Football Focus' Mason Cameron: "Arm length concerns don’t appear to have swayed Mike Vrabel or Doug Marrone’s view of Campbell as the class’ top prospect at tackle — a dire need in New England. Campbell’s 85th-percentile PFF grade on true pass sets across his career in the SEC should inject some life into a Patriots offensive line that ranked dead last in PFF pass-blocking grade (52.4) at the tackle position in 2024."
CBS Sports' Josh Edwards: "In an ideal world, New England would be able to trade back a bit and still get the left tackle of the future. There is not going to be a rush to climb the draft order with Cam Ward, Abdul Carter and Travis Hunter off the board, however."
FOX Sports' Rob Rang: "The Patriots have other bigger needs, but at this point, Hunter is just too good to ignore. He's the best player in this draft and one of the most unique players I've evaluated in 25 years in the business. Mike Vrabel will love Hunter's instincts and tenacity on defense — almost as much as Drake Maye will appreciate Hunter's sharp routes and sticky hands."
Yahoo! Sports' Nate Tice: "The Patriots would love to add to their offensive line and weapons this draft, but Carter is too good of a talent to pass up. Along with new additions Milton Williams and Harold Landry III as well as returning players Christian Barmore (hopefully healthy now) and Keion White, Carter would help turn this Patriots front into a formidable one, with a nice collection of different skill sets to work with, too."
