At least four or five times tonight, maybe more because I haven't watched every play, Collinsworth will describe some great play, "watch Sharper come all the way across the field to make this tackle" etc, and they proceed then to not show that replay. They do it over and over again. Its incredible. Its like the stone age of instant replay. Its like listening to a separate radio broadcast and watching the game with the sound turned off. Ridiculous. And I switched over to direct tv just for this.

Please don't base all of directv on Collinsworth and NFL network's terrible game telecasts.

Looks like you will be able to save your Direct TV money next year. Seems the cable companies aren't picking up the NFL Network until the NFL gives up solitary rights to NFL Ticket to Direct TV and offers the same package to Cable providers. Roger Goodell seems inclined to do so, in order to get NFL Network into all cable homes. Should happen next year.

Direct TV has been alright so far. I was glad to flip the bird to NPGCable. Still I can't believe these telecasts are so appalling. Is Collinsworth just too damn dumb to know they don't have the technology to show what he's describing? Do the camera guys already hate Colllinsworth so much that they could show what he's talking about but would rather let him look like a nitwit? For a deadly dull game like last night's the drama of how bad they'd keep screwing up the telecasts was kind of interesting. The way a big pile up on the freeway is. So long as no one gets hurt (except Collinsworth).

In order to do that Wally, they'd have to renege on a $3.5 Billion dollar contract with DirecTV.

Which would be more than be made up by varied cable providers. Those are not my thoughts, just something I heard discussed by so called "experts".

I had Adelphia which was bought by Comcast and have had NFL network all along. I subscribe to Direct TV just for the NFL package. I could save about $800/year if Comcast gets the privelege.

God I hope you're right but I thought they signed a new exclusive deal last year for several years?

I am stuck now I don't even have NFL Network because my digital cable was so ridiculously unreliable I cancelled after 8 days and 3 in house service calls and 11 LONG phone calls.

AT&T is now offering some new cable package I may be able to get, trying to find out more about that see if it includes NFL Network, but right now, I just have basic.

Ain't it fun. Seems like the better the technology , the worse the service. i just bought myself a Panasonic LCD HiDef. The damned digital cable/dvr box keeps locking up. DVR doesn't work and Comcast is fighting with the Hi Def providers and dropped half the hi def programming. Aaaaaarrggghh!

Thats the best news I've read in a LONG time. I was unable to get HD DirecTV because of a forest being in the way of the signal angle(whatever the technical term is).

NFL Sunday Ticket on cable is what we've had up here since day one.

Good. I just got Dish Network after dumping the crappy Cox Cable. Was going to get DirecTv, but they have the WORST customer service, so I cancelled my order and went with Dish...much better service and more Hi Def channels. If they get Sunday Ticket next year, my life will be complete..;)

Don't go to quest. They compress their reg digital cable (not HiDef) more than Cox and when they uncompress it at your house, the picture is not of the best quality.

Funny how customer service works.

The Direct TV people have always been very helpful whenever we have a problem, which is often with the new receivers. Staff is great hardware is awful.

Bryant Gumble sucks!

Last nights game with Chiefs/Raiders may have been Gumble's worst so far.

Oakland receiver catches short pass, takes 4 steps, gets hits , fumbles, recovers own fumble. Gumble starts screaming for a replay. Claims Chiefs should have ball. Vermeil didn't say a word.

Gumble's claim was it was an incompletion, yet the Chiefs should have the ball. Didn't occur to Gumble that if it was incomplete, as he claimed, it couldn't be a fumble and since Chiefs didn't intercept or recover the "fumble" , so why should it be Chief's ball or reviewable? His rant lasted about 5 minutes. The guy is a clueless moron.

I've had no problem with game coverage on NFLNetwork.

(Besides, I usually turn the sound off anyway). Can't let the announcers (for any network) get in the way of reality.

I'm accustomed to people railing against bad announcer teams, but as a Cards fan I always chaulked it up to getting the worst pair from the network each weekend. Now that I watch a lot more games on Directv, it seems that bad announcers are more commonplace than I thought.

It seems that people are really talking about this a lot more this year than in the past. Is that a symptom of people watching more games? Is it a one or two year downturn fluke in quality? Or are people just talking about it more because its year after year of crap and people are sick of it?

Clueless... yes... moron... I doubt. But, I'm with you... he's got to go.

(The complaints must be coming in, judging from his remark in the pre-game about there being 3 blacks in the booth during the previous game. It went something like: ".... that wasn't very popular at Clan headquarters.")

Just to tack something on here, NFL Net related, I'm watching the highlight packages and Deion was going through some kind of weekly awards for his top players of the week, and WOW

That guy just might be the most annoying person ever.

It's hit and miss with Directv customer service.A couple of years ago it was horrible but now it seems to have picked up. I've had them for over 10 years but it really only because of the Sunday ticket. If they lose that, they will be seriuously hurt but it will be better for the consumer.
