I'm curious how much the NFL would get if it was offered to every provider as a non-exclusive package. Directv would still offer up quite a bit I would think to keep their subscribers who are there because of it and cable providers like Comcast and Time Warner would also pay quite a bit. I would think the additional providers would more than make up for the premium that Directv pays for exclusivity but I guess the NFL feels otherwise.

It's a gamble. I think they would make more money. However, I think the NFL is thinking we may get less because there is no desperation to lock it up....LIKE DirecTV displays when the contracts is up. 12 freaking billion.

By the way, I know someone who worked in marketing there. They said that DirecTV had to take out a massive LOAN to cover the last contract and was still paying on it. My guess is that the same applies to this contract. How long is that sustainable?

Yes!!!
Now I can free upgrade to those new wireless DVRs they have. :D
I was waiting on this day to happen.

You can do that anyway. If you are an "A" rated customer, simply call, play the cancel game and you will get retention. I have been getting free equipment from them every single year without Sunday Ticket. I cancelled that a few years ago and have always gotten free equipment playing the game anyway. I got a Genie and the associated equipment for free +HBO free for 1 year. I think I only paid for shipping.

You can get Sunday Ticket through Playstation.

Yep. On XBOX ONE as well. It appears that as long as you are willing to get a console you can get the internet streamed version. I am sure that won't change with the AT&T acquisition. Not everyone can stream games because of caps (throttling) or has a fast enough connection.

The other downside is that people are speculating there will be ZERO haggling with renewals for App users. If that is true, there won't by any calling to cancel and getting deep discounts like I can now as a SAT user. That might be an interesting strategy because basically you pay through the nose if you want to stream but if you want discounts....get our SAT service.

Psssssst..........why pay Direct TV for NFL games? Anyone with access to internet can get any and all games, including the Red Zone, totally free each and every week. Same with all other sports.

W..........I..........Z.........I..........W..........I..........G..........dot..........C..........O..........M

I just this week unplugged my 24" monitor and replaced it with a 28" Samsung TV to use as my monitor. It is fantstic to watch games on. Better than my monitor, besides size, the screen is clear glass and gives a more true TV like picture and sound.

I watch whatever game is on the normal tv channels on my big TV while sitting in front of my computer watching the Red Zone or another game at same time. Easy to switch back and forth between games on the computer, though not quite as quick and easy as just changing channels with a remote on your TV.

With baseball playoffs beginning, will be able to watch 2 games at once now also. Ditto with NBA, NCAA, and foreign countries' sports.

PS. Those who feel like contributing to Sissy Boys "No More Direct TV" Fund can mail me at:
Sissy Boy Floyd
101 Sissyboy St.
Sissyboy, TX 96196

All donations are of course tax deductible. All contributors will be sent both a bronze "I Support Sissy Boy" button and a chrome "Down with Macho Men" lapel pin, along with a "Sissy Boy Recruitment" pamphlet. Hurry, supplies are limited.

There are weeks like this one where this stuff infuriates me. THe Cards and Denver has to be the marquee game, but it's not on in the Bay Area. So I have to watch it on the internet on an unreliable feed and deal with all the hassles of that, or I have to pay for Directv, which I don't really want because I can't get the pac 12 network.

Not prepared to switch back and forth so I get the NFL then drop it for Comcast to get pac 12 basketball, just not practical with contracts and stuff they throw in there.

The internet only option was great but now they took that away, I nearly asked a friend if I could use his apartment # to pay for that and then watch the games at my place but I decided not to because they set it up such that it has to be the billing address and that became too complicated.
your right, bay area gets SF even though the rest from middle america to cali gets our game.

Anyone think this streaming by NFL will be a better deal for fans? Or is there no such thing as a better deal for fans???

Goodell told Bloomberg on Friday that the league is considering splitting up rights to its games to make them more widely available to fans on platforms other than television. The league currently has a deal with DirecTV through 2022, but has an option to get out of that deal in time for the 2020 season.

I live in Texas and used Reddit all season, minus the two games we traveled to Az to see in person. I won't pay for the ticket again, but would consider buying single games if that was a possibility.

I for one would love an online option that allows me to unhook from DTV.

I will never do Reddit, or other crap because I want great resolution and no buffering.

If the NFL gave out online team options that stream in 4k I would be all over it. As long as it delivers reliable service. Even DAZN & Fubo have issues with higher resolutions or don't support them at all.

But I thought DirecTV was purchased by At&T???
Directv was indeed purchased by AT&T, has been for the last 1.5 yrs. I have both, only way I can watch the cardinals here in Louisville, KY is through the NFL Sunday ticket. I get a discount on my AT& T cell bill by having directv. For whatever reason I got the Sunday ticket for free this past season, would've been a shame paying to watch those games lol. They may have purchased Directv 2 yrs ago, it's been a long time now I do know that. My Directv bill just changed to the AT&T logo & a new account #. Wish they would just combine them both into one?

DirecTV addresses a long held need of mine bordering on obsession.

Like when I used to drive 30 miles to a high spot off Exit 8 on the NJ Turnpike where I could catch the fading signal of Redskin - Cardinal games on my car radio.

Or going up on my roof to rotate my outdoor antenna to receive a snowy signal from WCAU Philly to watch Cards - Eagles games.

Things are far from perfect, but they're a whole lot better with DirecTV.

It gets even more messy if you have bundled phone service. The bills get even get more chaotic with CenturyLink bundled billing in our area.
