I'm liking the kool-aid in the offseason. I hope Clark is the real thing because the Suns need it. :koolaid:

I'll do myself a favor and not get my hopes up too high. Hes a rookie who was drafted in the middle of the draft. How bout we don't build him up to be our saviour like we did to Dragic and just let him develop into a decent contributor?

So he's going to be a player who oozes potential but drives fans crazy with inconsistent play? Hmm not sure I like that comparison.

If in ten years Clark has had Odom's career I will be ecstatic.

I wonder how long it will take Clark to start. Assuming you're playing Amare at C, PF seems wide open. Clark's reputation is to be strong in a transition game and a decent defender from the get go, so why not see what he can do?

Lamar is a nice player but he could be better than he is. If you watch him a lot, he'll drive you freakin' nuts because he shows flashes of awesome but its so inconsistent. Id be happy if he put up Odom like numbers though, especially considering he was a mid round pick. I just hope his effort and consistency is better than Odoms.

If Clark is a guard in a pf sized body, have him work with Nash to be the next Magic Johnson.

I think Earl dropped in the draft because of the buzz word that's seemed to surround him since he entered the draft, "motivation". By most scouting reports and draft evaluations I've read, most thought he had top 5 talent.

I have often questioned Lamar Odom's motivation as well, so it's interesting Artest would make that comparison. But like has been said, ending up like Lamar wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for sure.

If they are just referring to the Odoms skill set that I would be very happy. I don't see how you can look at a player and say he is going to have the same issues that Odom has outside of the skill set.

It seems Earl could be compared to Diaw just as easily as Odom. Diaw was a skilled big man that could play like a guard yet seemed to have "motivation" issues at times.

Here is a thought. Will Clark be a better player than Diaw?

I think people are making comparison to character more then they are skill sets. So far the word in camp has been he has worked hard. Diaw from day one seemed to have issues working hard.

So far, this kid already seems to have a leg up on Odom and Diaw from that perspective. Let's see if it keeps up.

Didn't Diaw come into the league as a PG/SG with the Hawks. I remember him being listed as such on NBA Live...haha. I think when Phoenix got him in the JJ trade, they didn't know what to do with him until they had to stick him there when the Amare news broke out.

I'm not sure if Diaw's problems are really motivational related, or just being in the right situation. He was pretty good for the Cats IIRC.

Here is some encouraging information from a Paul Coro blog at azcentral dated 8-27-09 particularly about Dudley and Clark. Coro tends to not overly hype players.

Dudley is looking lean, a process that began last season when he started the "Nash diet." He was confidently hitting 3-point shots (and not just from the corner). He already was becoming a consistent perimeter shooter, an added forte to the defense, court intelligence and effort he always brings.

Clark is getting into "Suns shape," a different kind of conditioning for the way they play. But the early Suns talk about him not playing right away and having to earn minutes is going to be tough to follow. He is so skilled and long that it's hard to not see him as an instant contributor, particularly on a team with only three players taller than him.

Right Im not saying Clark is going to have the issues with laziness that Odom had. My first post had a silly/joking tone to it:
