TORONTO – Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed exited Sunday’s game in the third inning with what the club believes is a left foot contusion, an injury he said he sustained when his foot slipped in the batter’s box on Saturday.

Ahmed said the team’s training staff believes the injury is just “a bone contusion in between the metatarsals on my feet.” There are no plans for Ahmed to undergo tests on the foot.

“My spikes didn’t really grab like they normally do,” Ahmed said. “My foot slid and I kind of rolled over on the side of my foot. I felt some uncomfortable pain in the moment but it wasn’t awful. A little sore last night and then I woke up today and it was really sore.”

Luckily we have Ketel Marte who is a Major League quality shortstop to cover,
which may help settle the 2B-CF conglomeration we currently have.

It seems that the less options Torey has, the better he manages.
