I don't think there are any issues. He played yesterday so I don't think there are any injury issues. He asked to be released and they did it per is agent. With Hyde completely entrenched as the #2 he saw the writing on the wall it would seem. Certainly odd though that this happened after 1 game. He has to go through the waiver wire first. I would think with the Ravens ahead of us on the list they would put in a claim maybe.

James played in his first NFL game in Week 14 against the Dolphins. He carried the ball 8 times for 30 yards and had a 3.7 yard avg. He also caught a 15-yard reception. In Week 15 against the Patriots, he had 8 carries for 31 yards. He also had a 62-yard kickoff return after the Patriots had completed a 28 point comeback to tie the game up, leading to a touchdown the next play for the 49ers. James scored his first career touchdown in the 2012 NFC Championship against the Atlanta Falcons. He asked for and was granted his release from the 49ers. [12]

Have to hope that the Ravens don't claim him. Bad timing on that one if the Cards are interested in James.

Would he be a good backup for Ellington with his injury issue? I believe he is a similar type back.
