Niners are getting punked by the Texans at home! Halftime stats are real ugly. Texans have 18 first downs to San Fran's 3. Houston has almost 300 yds of offense at the half. Wow!! Only preseason, but the 3rd game is the closest to the real McCoy.

The media just won't get off the Niners' jock too. Sal Paolantonio was on the Herd the other day talking up the Niners because Harbaugh is "changing the culture" blah blah blah.

LOL!

Into the 4th quarter (before garbage time) here are SF's passing stats:

ATT Comp YDS YPA TD INT
7 19 46 2.4 0 2

SF is also averaging 3.4 yards-per-rush (although Gore hasn't played).

Defense has surrendered 30 points.

Niners were one of the up and coming teams in the league two years ago. They have made nothing but poor decisions since then

Niners 1st team D only played the 1st quarter. Schaub tore up their 2nd stringers in the 2nd quarter. Just the same, the Niner offense is not impressive.

They are in it for the Andrew Luck sweepstakes. Plus the Texans are going to be legit this year I believe.

I hate the San Francisco 49ers.

I have nothing more to contribute to this thread.

Truth. But I honestly feel they're gonna suck royally this season. As in 3-5 wins suck.

And Singleterry was changing the culture as well and we all saw how that turned out. It amazes me how so called experts buy into someone who was a good college coach believe that automatically will be a good pro coach when in reality, it's rare that a good to great college coach comes to the NFL and succeed. The only one's I can think of are Jimmy Johnson and to a lesser degree, Barry Switzer but Switzer won with the talent put together by Johnson. Bud Wilkenson, Lou Holtz, Steve Spurrier, all failed and failed miserably in the NFL. Not saying Harbaugh will as well but let's at least see how he's doing after a season before anointing him Bill Walsh.

Not sure what Harbaugh is doing, but it didn't even look like they were even trying last night.

I watched a lot of that game last night. It was weird.

Harbaugh switched QBs every couple of series, which is bizarre for a third preseason game with a new offense. Neither of them were close to effective. Smith was his usual below average self, but it wasn't all his fault. The Niners' O-line got ABUSED by the Texans. Antonio Smith was unblockable for a sizable stretch. Now, I like Antonio Smith and feel he's a good player. But he ain't that good. The Niners' O-line were simply overwhelmed for most of the game.

Kapernick also looked real shaky. I realize he's a rookie in an abbreviated offseason, but his simple passes to wide open receivers were DA-like at times. Not to mention he almost got Delanie Walker killed on a high pass over the middle. Braylon should be heavily questioning his choice of teams right now.

Shhh, dont tell anybody RT @WilliamsonNFL The more I watch #Cardinals, the more I think they are clearly superior to #49ers and #Seahawks

I have a feeling the 4and9ers will end up with luck next draft. This team is abysmally bad.

I've been saying this for a while. Whether they're 0-16 or 16-0, they will practically make the same amount of money. With that said, once they get off to a horrible start, and the fan base realizes they cant win with those two crap QB's, the fan base will be begging the whiners to lose and get Luck. I'm sure it's not a 'master plan', but it's certainly in the back of Luck's and Harbaugh's mind. Im gonna place a bet with vegas that SF gets Luck...winner winner chicken dinner.

The Niners have Seattle twice, Cincinnati on the road and Cleveland at home. That sample right there could give them more wins than Carolina. I hope so, anyway, because I don't want the Cardinals contributing to their win total.

Their schedule does look tough, though. In addition to the NFC East, they have the "good" half of the AFC North, plus some up-and-coming teams like Detroit and Tampa Bay.

Even with Luck, they'll still suck.

They have to start adding long term guys not getting rid of them. While a franchise QB can hide alot, it won't hide the ineptness spewing forth from that formerly 'best run' franchise.

I am not a fan of their front office, which makes me a fan of their front office...seeing how they are a division rival.

So while the media buys for the moment their McGinnis culture coach, I have to think their front office is about 10x worse than Bob Ferguson. Even if Harbaugh isn't a good coach in the nfl, I don't know if the niners front office will even give him a shot on his own merits. I think he'll be starting two steps back in every race.

I think Patrick Willis is destined to be a great player on a bad team for most of his career...one can never say if he'll eventually leave, or towards the tail end of his career they finally get a competent front office to turn things around.

Now they'll actually have to suck in the next few years to do that, but I don't see how they don't do exactly that. I'm just not in favor of the, lets get rid of serviceable guys, in lieu of trash off the street. Seems to me they cut/trade first, think about replacements later.

Also it seems everybody up for a contract renewal sans Willis is being strung along.

I think they are a mess, and while it is an opinion, I just don't see how people think things are going to end up any better than under singletary, besides having a coach who won't drop trou and be a complete headcase.

The niners problems were far beyond Singletary, and scapegoating him allows them to lie to themselves about deeper problems until Harbaugh gets canned.

But we'll have to see them play regular season games first of course. Just this is the impression I'm getting from them, their moves, apparent rationale, etc.
