Just curious.

I keep hearing the Nintendo DS lite is better than the PSP.

Anyone want to chime in with their opinion?

In my opinion, the choice between the Nintendo DS and the PSP depends on what games you like to play. The DS has better "brain" games and all your classic video games. They are also cheaper that PSP's games.....On the other hand, the PSP has a better selection of fighting games and sports games....at least that's the way i see it. I used to have a PSP until it was stolen. We replaced it with a DS and we've been pretty happy with it.

Um no.

First of all, I have not seen a female that has been happy with the PSP, unless they use it for movies.

I currently own both a PSP and 2 DS Lites, and 2 regular DS's. The game selection on the DS is so much better than the PSP it is beyond silly. The fact that you can play Gameboy Advance games on the DS, and it is $129, vs. $199 to start off with, and the choice should be a no-brainer.

I am not sure if you do, but if you look at all of the highest rated games on the PSP, almost all of them are direct ports from the PS2. The DS has so many games that are unique to its system alone.

If you enjoy watching movies on the PSP, that would be the ONLY reason that I could recommend the PSP right now. The lack of titles (even this late in its production cycle) is downright alarming. I honestly believe that you will enjoy the DS Lite over the PSP. With the $70 you save, you can buy 2-5 games and still be ahead, as you don't have to buy any memory cards with the DS Lite.

This is the absolute truth. My wife LOVES the DS and really didn't like the PSP. As a matter of fact, even though I bought the Nintendo DS, it has become "hers". I personally liked the PSP, but everything Dreamcastrocks said is true about the games.....not that many and they are more expensive.

I bought a DS last year and I can honestly say that my wife has taken ownership of it. She can play tetris online againts people for hours. But you have 4 DSs? Why would anyone need 2, let alone 4? Just curious.

Haha. Bought a DS for myself early in its production cycle. Once Animal Crossing came out for the DS, the "ownership" of the DS started to happen to my DS as well. At that point, I decided to buy her a new one.

Once the DS Lites came out with the smaller design and the backlit screens, I had to have one of those too. The whole "ownership" thing tried to happen one more time, so I bought another DS Lite off of eBay. I have kept my normal DS's for my 4 and 5 year old children and they love it. The larger ones aren't really worth selling, as I let my children play and scratch up the older ones.

Haha. I bought the DS and I literally don't see it for weeks. I'm trying to convince my wife that she needs the Wii (to add to my toy collection) and so far she's not buying. I am skeptical of the wii because of graphics, but I'm just thinking that maybe if I got that, i could play video games without the whole room vacating like it does when I play Rainbow 6 Vegas on 360. The new mario vs. sonic olympics game looks good.

The Wii is a weird system. I was initially sold on it because of its backwards compatibility with the other systems, but I haven't purchased anything from the Virtual Console as of yet. (although I plan on it soon) The partying atmosphere that the Wii creates is awesome.

I haven't had more fun playing games that I have playing Wii Sports and drinking heavily. Awesomeness.

We bought my 12 year old a DS and a PSP. He never used the DS at all.

For him it was all about the size of the screen. He said the DS was just too small.

My daughter likes to play Mario and Monkeyball but she didn't like the DS either. Another problem was they kept dropping the little touch stick and the dog would eat it.

My brother has the PSP. The DS is good if you are addicted to Mario or games like that. But if you want good sports games, shooters or just the much cooler game system then it would be the PSP. I love playing MLB '06 and you can play online too. The wireless connection isn't so great but it works alright most of the time.

DS is easily the #1 selling video game machine in the world, fyi. I had the PSP and the games were too expensive and it isnt really that much better than the DS graphically. If you hate small screens than neither is for you.

My brother's a little computer genius and knows all there is to know about these games so I'll go with him and I just love the PSP. I just am not a fan of those gameboy games. The DS seems to be more for little kids too. Does it have any good sports games or shooters at all? It's like comparing the Gamecube, which was cheaper, but a pile of crap to an Xbox which didn't have a huge game selection but was way better.

Does Nintendo itself have any good sports games or shooters? Not really. When I want to play a good sports game, I play it with a ton of friends on my big screen TV, or over the internet on my big screen. Handhelds and shooters/sports games do not mix.

Also, these shooters/sports games that you refer to, almost all of them are direct ports from the PS2 and are cheaper on that system too.

The best part of the PSP is the homebrewing, which I haven't seen a female be interested in.

Kate should go DS. This is coming from a PSP/DS owner, with a ton of experience with both systems.

And that's why it's so far behind everything else. I like sports games and shooters on a handheld, but you probably know which one a female would like better than me so I'll just go with that. For teenagers and any guys though, the PSP is just better imo.

The thing with sports games, and shooters, is that they have become stale. There has been not much evolution in these genres in the past 10 years.

I know many, many guys that love the DS.

If it weren't for the homebrewing, the PSP would be a brick. (pun intended)

Most of them haven't changed in the past 5 years, especially the Madden franchise.

Anywho. abomb has a PSP for sale.
Perhaps not on the surface but I wouldn't go as far as saying that sports games haven't changed much in the last 5-10 years, but then again I'm a detail oriented person.
