Tough for Mark, he deserves it. Too bad his team is garbage.

Ah well, he was on a really bad team and they rarely get 3 All Stars it seems. Hopefully this will keep him hungry and trying to improve, I figure he's got a great shot at it next year.

Now if we can only get Drew and Young playing more like Upton and Reynolds we'd really have something here.

After 2 1/2 years do you still think young can get going? I don't but I don't know that trading him is the answer. If we can get agood hitting 1st Baseman then I can live with Youngs BA as long as his defense is there.

I cannot understand why the D'backs just traded for another 1B, adding to the logjam.

Mark Reynolds has been athletic and solid when playing 1B on and off this season. On the other hand, his errors at 3B throughout his career have been when throwing from 3B to 1B.

Just as the Cardinals did with Albert Pujols, move Reynolds from 3B to 1B, let him feel confident in the field and continue to develop his hitting potential.

John Byrnes doesn't seem to able to see beyond the end of his nose.

Diamondbacks management is developing a history of trying something, watching it work, then undoing it.

Unless Whitesell can turn it around, I don't think there is a logjam at 1st. Reynolds is our only true 3rd baseman so it doesn't make sense to put him back there, Tracy is struggling and will most likely be moved and Clark is too old. In reality, we are not getting the production we should be getting out of that position. I'm ok with the move, although I think subsequent moves are needed to shore up the bullpen

A bit of a snub for sure.

The Good:
Leads all 3rd basemen in HRs, 2nd in Slugging %, 2nd in RBIs, 3rd in On Base Plus Slugging, 3rd in RS, 4th in SBs, 5th on BBs

The bad:
Has struck out 119 times (by far the most and the next highest is 85). Has 14 errors on the year (9 at 3B and 5 at 1B).

Booooo!!!!

The bigger travesty is that he isn't in the Home Run Derby. He is definitely more deserving than Fatty Fielder and also has more taters than Howard hitting with less protection on a bad team.

Agreed, but he's considered a 3B and not a 1B. Would they have been able to just have him participate in the HR Derby?

I, too would like to have seen Mark Reynolds in the HR competition, as well as on the roster.

But, did you notice? "Fatty Fielder" won.

14 errors and only a .260 hitter? He didn't deserve an all star nod.

He might be somewhat deserving, but no big deal.

Just get it done to make it next year.
