No offense to Raja Bell, but...

There is no way Bell gets a full MLE. He might make sense if a split, but even then I'm not sure he's a good fit for the Suns.

Paul

who do you think we can get for the MLE? or even part of it? do you think we can ray allen? how about michael redd?

we may still get a player like michael finley or maybe not but finley isnt the player he once was as shown in the playoff against the suns. but if we do it will be for the vit min.

Finley is a broken down old man who continually dissapears in the playoffs. No thanks.

Well Nash did personally request him. I trust the MVP when it comes to something like this. Also, wasn't it already disclosed that Raja was only going to get part of the MLE, so why are we arguing over it. We can resign Hunter and still use the vet minimum on Finley (if he's willing to take it, which I think he will).

Besides, it looks like SAR wants the $$$, and Donyell hasn't even been a blip on our radar according to posted sources. In addition, Chris Anderson looks like he's going to resign with New Orleans.

I think Bell and Finley are a toss up right now in their careers. Add in that Bell is used to being the role player, and not a star and I think it is a better fit.

Of course, I wouldn't mind Finley on top of bell.

The problem with signing Bell, IMO, is essentially he'll play the same role that Barbosa will. They have very similar skills, and I think Bell will definitely take away from Barbosa's minutes, thus hindering his development.

Here is the Paul Panks I remember from the azcentral boards. Criticize everything the local organizations for all their moves.

there are differenbt reports, some say all of the MLE and some say most

either way we can still sign finley for the min when he becomes available. we need to sign another big cheap though.

I agree - but that's easier said than done. Although Hunter only cost 750K - myabe we end up picking up another Hunter along the way.

As far as signing guys who have cleared waivers, like Finley soon, there are no financial restrictions whatever. He can go to any team that wants him -what they pay is the league minimum and what he gets is his contracted salary. The team that waived him pays his salary minus the league min for him. My understanding is that it is just that cut and dried.

That's what I thought too, but unfortunately Coon's FAQ is (self-)contradictory. Check out #53 and #54. (Uh, unless it's 52 and 53, I can't remember.)

we went over this again in another thread.

Read Larry Coon's CBA rule #52, i think second paragraph. it uses a scenario in which a waived player recieves more than the vet min. under those assumptions Finley can signed for more than the vet min.

and i really hope it was for half the MLE.....or if we can drop Voskuhl and bring ourselves far enough below the cap to resign Hunter or someone. this team is looking more and more thin as the days pass.

First i thought we'd have at least two draft picks to round out the bench. then i thought we'd sign a couple of guys with the MLE. we might be two quality players short of what i was hoping for.

Paul no disrepect to you but you obviously have not seen Raja play, he is a good player and will help the team sure up the bench.

Hey I know you want known players like the Glove or some other gay nicknamed wahsed up former star but at this point we have stars WE DONT NEED former stars who want points and touches WE NEED role players this is a good start.

Say hi to Cotton for me.
