We are talking about the Steelers QB who threw 5 interceptions in his first two playoff games and was 9-21 with 2 picks in his first SB right? The guy who threw 23 interceptions his 3rd year in the NFL? Then Arians shows up and he throws for 32 TDs and only 11 picks the next season.

We have a winner!

That's kind of like someone planting a garden and when it finally produces some veggies, another person taking credit for it when they go out and harvest the plants.

What if they were using the wrong kind of soil and had the plant in the wrong location. If you changed it and moved it don't you deserve credit?

I've been thinking along those lines. What QB has BA or Tom Moore developed that wasn't close to a sure thing?

A very fair question.

I have no answer, other than I am comfortable with Bruce Arians, and more so, Tom Moore in their ability to groom a QB.

He couldn't fix Tim Couch or Kelly Holcomb when he was OC for the Browns for 3 years??? :doi:

That all I got?

Didn't Kelly Holcomb have 1 huge year under him ?

....lol, Kelly Holcomb.....

Good argument, tho.

It will definitely be interesting that is for sure.

He was a surefire first round pick # 11 overall whom was thought highly of by most coming out of college who had nowhere near LT like accuracy issues. Furthermore Roethlisberger was almost a finished product by the time Arians got his hands on him already tutored by one Ken Whisnehhunt and an impressive SB victory under his belt. So saying he mentored or turned him into anything is quite laughable.

So was Matt Leinart.

I thought this draft lined up really well in the later rounds for a couple of these positions. I would have switched:

4th QB Logan Thomas >>> LB Carl Bradford
6th WR ?????? >>> OL Laurent Duvernay-Tardif

but oh well, can't change it now. We will see in the future if our picks pan out or the higher rated players do better.

Perfect example, Ken Whisenhunt winning an NFC Championship and Denny Green going 16-32 with a lot of the same players.

you have winner who completely left out the fact the in between Big Ben's first two playoff games and Super Bowl performance, he won three straight playoff games on the road to GET the Steelers to the Super Bowl, throwing for 673 yards, 7 TDs, 1 INT with a 67% completion percentage and a 124 passer rating.

Are you debating he had his best years under arians? The stats are pretty clear.

nobodys debating that?? Show me any QB that didn't improve in their career from seasons 1 and 2 compared to the rest? Thats just a natural progression. (unless you suck)

The argument here is that BR is and was a stud ALREADY when Arians got his hands on him. YES HE IMPROVED! But that is normal for great QB's the more years they have the game slows down for them. I don't even deny that Arians may have helped in some regard.

But you even remotely trying to use Big Ben as a reason and for support as to why he can and may be able to salvage the garbage QB we drafted in the 4th round is laughable.

Its really that simple. I notice you don't say anything about the Tim Couch's and Kelly Holcombs of the world that BA had plenty of time to try and "fix" all you have is BR and the argument is quite weak.

If you were really convinced, you wouldn't get so excited.

Big Ben actually regressed from his rookie year until BA took over as OC. He regressed year by year in completion percentage TD percentage and his 3rd year the year before BA he had his most INT. Check his career stats as I have said they speak for themselves. He was no sure fire stud he was a middle of the road qb until his 4th year.

Did I say that ANYWHERE? No. Just that pointing to stats that completely cherry pick to make the kid look like a bum before Arians and then championing those stats as a "winner" makes you look pretty foolish.

As does your entire hypothesis. A guy who wins ROY and leads his team to the Super Bowl was relatively well groomed, well, from the second he stepped on the field. Arians might have elevated his game, but the idea that it wasn't clear that Big Ben had huge game from the start and in any way shows Arians can do with Logan (who was pretty bad his last two seasons) is laughable.

The skimming over his actual stats is laughable. Its all 3 years worth of stats before BA cherry picking is selecting games or half of a season. Three years of regression. Please explain it to me.

I also never said you did say it hence the reason it was posed as a question. Don't understand why people have been so heated this weekend all worked up over the draft because they didn't take who ESPN says is the BPA. People here loathe ESPN but now they are the end all be all. That is also laughable.

LOL, people doubting that Bruce Arians had a very positive influence on Big Ben. Has he done anything since B.A. left the Steelers?

I have my doubts B.A. can coach up Logan Thomas, but the argument against that isn't that he didn't do a whale of a job with Big Ben. It's that Thomas has serious accuracy and footworks issues among other things.
