I am not convinced that there is not a plan to take Big Ben with #3 if he is there... even though Green has indicated multiple times he is not taking a QB, he has also stated he would take the best player available, regardless of position. How can you pass on Ben if he is there?
We have more pressing needs possibly, but a long term franchise QB to build around, with the emergence of Boldin and Johnson, seems to fit more into the scenario that would build fan interest and support going into the new stadium (wrong side of town BTW) and filling more seats.
Some of the young guys have a chance to be pretty decent on the D-Line with a year under their belt and a new D-Line coach (i.e., KVB, Pace, King, Johnson, etc.). The young LB's got thrown in the last two years in a tough situation but showed some speed and ability. CB position is REALLY BAD and I, for one, will not have a lot of expectations for Starks or Hill to suddenly become competent.
Anyway... just my thoughts

JC, I'm not convinced of anything except that Sean Taylor won't be our pick. Denny Green has done a fabulous job of obfuscation. Wading through his bullcrap tells you nothing other than bullcrap smells.

My gut tells me the top 3 picks will be Gallery and the two QBS, in no particular order. san Diego and the Cards may both trade out of their spots. There is just no way to tell.

I love it.

Interesting enough...

I have a feeling that this could be quite a bit more interesting this year, even for the Cards... I know that many people will be tainted on the "trading down" scenario, but depending on how far (Not to 17 & 18 for sure) there could be a long term benefit is adding some more young players at quality levels we haven't seen here for awhile.
I also feel that there will be more activity this year after June 1st and maybe there will be some cap casualties that we would be able to afford since we have not gone crazy (ala Washington) to bring in experienced players that are getting paid more that they are worth.
I have been a season ticket holder for 15 years.. so no illusions here about what COULD HAPPEN. But at least for the first time we actually have a coach with a history that doesn't include "long-term assistant with potential"... a real record to back up his talk... and some respect around the league.

"With the third selection in the 2004 draft, the St. Lou....er I mean, the Arizona Cardinals announce a trade with the New England Patriots.

Arizona sends its first pick - the #3 selection in the draft - in exchange for New England's #21 and #32 selections..."

"...With their #21 selection in the 2004 NFL Player Draft, the Cardinals select:

JP Losman, QB Tulane..."

"...With their #32 selection in the 2004 NFL Player Draft, the Cardinals select:

Nat Dorsey OT Georgia Tech..."

"With their #33 selection in the 2004 NFL Player Draft, the Cardinals select:

"Rodney Leisle, DT UCLA..."

I'm sorry - I couldn't resist replaying last night's nightmare.

AUGHGHGH! Now that I got that nightmare out of my system lets talk about what will really happen. San Diego will pick a qb most likely Manning, Oakland will pick Gallery or trade down and Gallery or the 2nd best qb will be taken (Manning or Roethlisberger). The Cards will take a WR His name is Fitzgerald.
