Despite rumblings over the weekend that there might be some movement on the Steven Jackson front, sources familiar with the negotiations -- or lack thereof -- say there was no dialogue between the Rams and Jackson's agent save for a brief phone call Friday between the parties. So the holdout continues. As of Sunday, the Pro Bowl running back had missed 24 days of training camp and the preseason, 24 practices and two preseason games. At $15,116 per day, his fine total stands at $362,784 -- or just under the minimum base salary for a second-year NFL player.

There's no way it would happen, but I'd love to trade Boldin for Jackson straight up...even with the prospect of having to face Q 2x a year.

We are not trading Boldin for a running back. That would be a very foolish move IMO. We already brought an elite RB in and it marginally improved our rushing attack.

If the Q trade goes down, you pocket draft picks and/or get some quality blockers on the o-line.

I am of the mindset that the line makes the runner, not vice-versa

Steven Jackson is unhappy for the same reason Q is -- not enough money

Cards say they cant give Q all the money he wants this year due to cap

if they can somehow find it for Jackson, couldnt they find it for Q?

I dont think it is an issue of cap. I think it is more of an issue of not wanting to pay 2 WR's that much money. An idea I think might comes from Wiz and his Offensive idea's and why Boldin may be mad at Wiz for "getting involved".

They could be creative and give him the money he wants. It's just they feel they don't have to break the bank on Boldin since he is under contract for 3 more years. There are other priorities right now.

First, Jackson is much better than Edge is at this point in their careers.

Second, I agree that we need to beef up our line but getting Jackson would set us up at RB for five years. Notice at the end of last season that our LB and DL situation was horrible. I know that it is to early to say "Job Done" but we look pretty strong in those two areas. I think that next offseason is our year to address the OL like we did DL and LB this year.

jackson is overrated IMO. Boldin may be too, but we don't need Jackson, i say we sit back:grabs: watch the rams suffer, because hey, at least Q is going to play for us.

I love Boldin, but would do it in a second...Jackson is a top 5 back, and arguably top 3.

I will have to agree with trading boldin for jackson straight up. You have to be able to run the ball. Jackson has that home run threat to him unlike James. Breaston & the other recievers are stepping up in preseason. The Cardinals have great depth @ the WR position. This trade is very unlikly, so i am not going to waste anymore time on it.

I'm just happy we might not have to play SJ.

but Brian Leonard tore us up last year. I honestly think we are better against the "superstars" because it gets our very emotional defense fired up. just my opinion...

Just as a club can cut a player, the player can then sign w/ another team - to me that evens out game.

Many times can team NOT cut a player because of the cap hit they would take by the accelerated bonus? There are many times a player makes a roster and is overpaid because of this.

Do these guys ever actually pay these fines? You know the 15,000 a day? Or is it just negotiated away in the new contract?

Edge has passed 30 and not the Edge of old. He probably has 2-3 years left if he can stay healthy. He is not going to be able to run the ball 25 times game this year and is Hightower going to be able to pick up the slack? I do not know but sure hope so.

I got a look at Felix Jones recently playing with Dallas. I think he is going to be more than just good. I think both he and DMac are averaging over or near 5 yds a carry. What round did Felix Jones go in?
