The North Carolina men's basketball team is going to the Big Dance.
Yes, you read that right. The North Carolina Tarheels are in the 2025 NCAA men's tournament. On Selection Sunday, the team snuck into the bracket, upending expectations that Hubert Davis's team would be out. How did they get in? That's the question so many people want to know.
IT’S BRACKET MADNESS: Enter USA TODAY's NCAA tournament bracket contest for a chance at $1 million prize.
After the 68-team bracket reveal, it became clear that not many people expected the Tarheels to be there. Now, another question becomes: How much did their non-conference schedule strength help them get into the tournament? Unfortunately, people might not be happy with any answers provided.
At any rate, here's how so many fans reacted to seeing North Carolina's name in the bracket:

At any rate, here's how so many fans reacted to seeing North Carolina's name in the bracket:
You cant punish Louisville and give them an 8 seed for playing in a depleted ACC and at the same time let North Carolina in.
Why does the Selection Committee even stress Quad 1 games if you can go 1-12 in Q1 games and still make it?

North Carolina may be 1-12 against Q1 teams, but they’re ratings gold so they’re in.

Last year, teams like St. John's and Seton Hall didn't get in because they didn't have enough good wins. This year, North Carolina gets in despite having basically zero quality. It's a moving target. Too much inconsistency.

conspiracy theorists ought to have field day with UNC getting in and its AD Bubba Cunningham being head of selection committee.

North Carolina getting into the tournament is awful.
I'm sorry.
