This says it all:

"My heart has always been in Miami, and so I'm truly excited to call myself a Dolphin once again," Taylor said in a statement. "I was presented with a number of different opportunities, but in the end the combination of this being the best situation for my family, my love for this community and my tremendous loyalty to a great organization made this an easy decision."

Money isn't everything. ;)

Don't mean to be too cynical, but I wonder what he's be saying if he was 25,26... as opposed to pushing 35 with millions in the bank.

Tilllman was truely a player without greed!

Yep. I'll never forget the summer AFTER his rookie NFL season, I worked in a coffee shop in downtown Tempe. He came in almost every day on a Schwinn bike and got a tea that he would re-use for three or four cups. The way he carried himself, there was just no way to know he was a professional athlete. He obviously could've had a nice ride, nice clothes, etc, But, he still looked like just a normal college kid.

Damn. I wish he was still around. :(

or a lot easier to leave that money on the table after making a ton money before hand in his prime LOL, but it is still refreshing to hear such report

I don't think you are being cynical, but that is the point. He is not 25-26, does not need money, and more power to him to do what he wants after many years of tremendous success.

This may have been a smart move. None of his Redskin money was guaranteed and if he looked off in training camp he might have been cut too late to do anybody else any good either.

I like the guy and hope this works for him. I don't think it will. To me his chances of making the Dolphins roster are about 40%.

My take also. (I vaguely recall a deal from Cincy being in place that would have been worth roughly $5-mil to Taylor - how much if any guaranteed, I don't know). In any industry in a non-guaranteed environment, it sometimes is unwise to overprice yourself; thereby making yourself vulnerable to being prematurely whacked.

He's not greedy this year, but didn't he leave Miami in the first place because of money issues?

I thought you were saying he could have paid for the extra cups of tea.

It is still tough for me to believe what happened to the guy. Sheesh.

What deal left $7 million on the table? I don't think his Redskin deal was guaranteed.

Jason never should have left Miami.

I'd bet the theoretical farm on that not happening. He'll be on the team.

Taylor was traded to the Redskins last year for a 2nd round pick in 2009 and a sixth round pick in 2010. The Dolphins drafted Pat White (QB) with their pick, and now they have Taylor back on the books for $7million less, while still having a 2010 Sixth Round Draft Pick from the Redskins.

That's correct. And he was traded because Bill Parcells was openly pissed that Taylor preferred to pursue his dancing and acting interests rather than participate in Miami's off-season workouts.

Was just trying to clear up confusion as to why he went to the Redskins.
