Sure it was not a horrific game, but it was not a great game either… I am not buying the theory that we did okay because the score was not blown out. Yes, the Patriots have won many games in succession but go back and take a look at the scores. They do what they need to win, in this run of theirs, there is hardly a blow out to speak of. In this win streak of theirs they really only have one blow out, it was against the Bills in the last game of the season in 2003, 31–0… against a team that handed them that same margin of victory earlier in the season.

Now to top this all off, in this record setting win streak they had two games go in to overtime. They also scored only three field goals against the Cleveland Browns last year (5-11), sure it got them the victory but my point is that they do not blow teams out… They win, plain and simple, scoring points and not being blown out against them does not mean we are indeed on the right track. I really only know so much about the Pats because my best friend is a massive Pats fan, and also has been so during all of those times when they were the bottom of the AFC... He does enjoy the bandwagon, however, because he can now buy so many more Pats items then he could prior to their success, despite the fact that he liked the 'little boy blue' logo better...

My point is this, if someone makes some type of criticism at the game play that we see, week to week, it does not mean that the person does not love the team or want the team to succeed. In all actuality it shows how much they care about the outcome of play. I may actually be afraid for them to be a powerhouse because I am unsure if my heart could handle even the possibility of them going to the big game, I surely would just simply drop dead.

Remember the bandwagon fans hop on and hop off; they don’t stick with a team through good and bad. Every Cardinal fan is true and true because that wagon has never been here… Don’t start slashing at each other’s throats because there are differing opinions. I stated my opinions back when there were so many Plummer Kool-Aid drinkers, and got slammed then as well.

Enjoy the season; enjoy the team, after all it is only 17 weeks long…

You guys are not going to like this either but I was just going through some stats and our schedule...

It is very possible that we pull a goose egg this year... Our schedule is looking pretty tough and the only win I can see that should be the least of a struggle will be against the Fish... Anything else is going to prove to be a tough fight...

Rough schedule for a growing young team...

have you seen the 49ers? Rattay is hurting, Dorsey started the game and they are starting a DE they picked up during the week with Dennis Johnson as a backup. They played OK today but we can beat them at least once.

I do agree with your point, we all want this team to win.

I agree, the second most likely team for us to beat is SF but they have put up an aweful lot of points and just lost both of the first two... One to a Falcon team that is looking pretty darned good... This year is for growing regardless... so lets grow.. :)

Good advice.
Any football season and any record is better than no football season at all... (or even one without the cards)

Maybe, but Kevan Barlow is going to carve this team up. Any coach in the league not named Dennis Erickson would have walked out of the Superdome with a W. Until the Cards can figure out a way to contain the run, either against power runners or cutback runners, the Cards are going to lose a lot of games by 7-17 points.

The Cards have faced Marshall Faulk and Corey Dillon so far. It will be interesting to see what a pedestrian level RB like Barlow gets against them.

Anyone know when Ray Thompson is expected back? Maybe that will help improve the run D.

Barlow left the game with a "rib contusion" and didn't come back. He'll probably play, by the time we see them in week 5, he may play next week in fact, but the 49ers held him out because he's a fumbler and they were concerned with the rib injury he'd have trouble hanging onto the ball.

he's a good RB though, big and quick feet, if healthy he will in fact give us problems.

"Pedestrian level"?! Barlow rushed for over 1000 yards in 2003. He rushed for 114 yards and 2 TDs yesterday on the road. I mean, he's no Thomas Jones, but he's no Marcel Shipp, either. He's easily one of the top 15 runningbacks in the NFL.

I agree 67, but I tend to disagree at the same time. The next 3 games are winnable. Yes I think so. If the o-line can get its head out of its butt, we can be 3-2.

I really do not see a win for us either. We just do not have the players to compete. We have some promising rookies but very few veteran guys who would start for other teams. No use at looking at this team through rose colored glasses. They are what they are and DG is not going to make them any better than they can be. I have been a Card fan for over 60 years and always will be but I quit pretending long ago that they are something they are not. Our problems run deep. We have had high draft picks for many years but to consistently let these guys go thinking they are no good. Good examples: Rice-All Pro with a ring, Garrison Hearst-fine runner for many years after we let him go, now we have Thomas Jones who I thought was a keeper we let go and now he is running wild. Ran for over 150 yds yesterday with the Bears beating Green Bay and ran well the week before. Corey Chavous- He could surely be used at DB. DG cuts our starting center and we have to live with a rookie on a terrible offensive line. Either we cannot recoginze talent when it is in front of us or our teams are so bad that even talent cannot display itself when it is here. The way our year is headed how can we possible attract any decent FA's next year. If McCown is another bust we start all over again with another new QB. I remain of the opinion a good football team is always anchored by a good if not outstanding QB. If you cannot get good FA's and you cannot recoginze talent you draft or hold on to them you are in hole that just keeps getting deeper.

Is it not really pathetic that here we are looking for one team we can beat. After all the high draft picks year after year we continue to go backwards until we cannot go back any further.

step away from the edge... you sound like you are about to jump. We held a high powered offense to 17 points, and was within 5 points of the Superbowl champs in the third quarter after 2 games no one said we had a prayer to win.

I will hold out hope that DG will make changes.

Thomas Jones ran for 151 yds yesterday against Green Bay in the Bears win. He also had a good game the week before. I guess he is not the failure many thought he was.

I don't think he was a failure, there was a combination of things. He was not healthy being one of them and he is running with more aggression than he ever did while here.

I enjoy

... being able to watch the Cardinals all the way into the late 4th quarter before I get disappointed.
Last year there were several games that were OVER at the half.

Last year at this point we had lost to the Lions and been decimated by the Seahawks. Yet we proceeded to find four wins along the way. Granted 4-12 stinks, but based on our performance in these first two games, I don't take the prospect of 0-16 very seriously. I still think we can split with San Francisco if not sweep, split with St. Louis, and find a way to compete with Seattle in a t least one of the games. And don't tell me we can't come out of the Buffalo/Miami/NY Giants stretch without a win.

Again, my main concern for this year is to change from a team that gives up to one that does not--in the second half of games, and especially in the second half of the season. So far we aren't. When Boldin comes back, things will be even better.
