And thats why all of his former coaches, his former owner, and all of his players think he is a complete "scumbag".

Thats why it took so long to fire him. The Owner was interviewing all of the players and other coaches, and most of them said they hated the guy.

Tomlin being blocked once actually makes me believe even more so that he would let Butler interview. Tomilin couldnt have been all to happy about not being able to get a promotion once before so I dont think he would do the same to one of his own.

Gruden was an ass, that is definitely true. Marinelli was pissed beyond belief that he wouldn't let Barry out a year early....he haid to wait a year before he could be the DC (not that that worked out too well)

lets hope that he does get to interview...maybe the Rooneys prevented Butler in 07 because Tomlin was the brand new coach and had to have an opportunity to evaluate everybody.

I'm actually wondering what Butler has up his sleeve. As good as the Steelers are and have been on the defensive side they've always been susceptible to the pass. I don't want the Cardinals to lose anything against the run but I'm very tired of watching them get gashed in the secondary. That's my only concern with hiring a LeBeau protege'. The Cardinals secondary may not get too much better.

With that being said I had heard that Tomlin has wanted to bring in his own coaches for some time. Like Whis, with Pendy, Tomlin was forced to take the defensive staff from the previous regime.

Tomlin wasn't forced to keep the defensive staff; he choose to keep them. Much has been said that even though his experience is in the Tampa 2 he knew that with the players the Steelers had (3/4) and the success they've had on defense, he was smart to leave LeBeau and staff in place rather than changing it to be "his" way. He has said something to the effect of "Why fix it if it isn't broken?"

Any intelligent person interviewing for the HC position at Pittsburg would say I want to keep the defense intact. I can't imagine Rooney hearing a candidate saying they would change the Pit D and then hiring them.
