Why would you continue to say that you will match any offer. Just keep your mouth shut. If I was another GM, not saying Im not, I would just throw out some big dollar contract to make sure the suns are locked up for awhile.

Zip it bud.

Love the suns though. They are the only reason I wake.

The suns wouldn't be locked up at all. There is no reason why they wouldn't take the full time to match, and if they wanted to they could match it the next hour.

The reason why you tell other teams you will match is to disuade them from throwing a max contract at him. If other teams refuse to sign him, then he is pretty much forced to sign at the price the Suns think is reasonable.

I see where you are coming from, but really, what GM in the league will throw a max deal at someone for the ONLY purpose of having someone match. As many have said, they are playing the game. They are trying to let everyone know that persuing JJ is futile. The deal will be matched, so why bother? Hopefully those with cap space will use it up before he becomes one of the last quality FA's out there.

Sorry, I keep forgetting about him. It really is in Isiah's best interest for us to be locked up with the cap. He has been on the receiving end of some great trades.:biglaugh:

How's Marbury working out for them anyway? I haven't heard.

If the Knicks weren't already $700 billion over the cap, then maybe, but as it is they can't make any such offer.

I feel you man. When does being a fan turn into an addiction? Is there a certain post count threshhold? Like if i post here 10 times a day during the off-season, then i am certifiably addicted to the suns?

if you have the room to make a max contract offer, then you most likely need to add some big parts to your team. if you offer a RFA a contract then you are first tieing up that much money that you cant offer to anyone else. if that players team matches then you still have the money and now any other FA that you might have gone after are off the market to. so you still have the money but you may have to go without some important pieces for the up coming season.
