As long as Colangelo is still the GM and there are still hours on the trade clock, I hope the Suns can find a backup PG. Barbosa and House are woefully inadequate. Neither of them is a PG anyway, but tonight just drove home the point that they can't really handle the responsibilties even for spot duty. Barbosa turned the ball over every time he tried to create for someone else, and all House knows how to do is chuck bricks.

If the Suns want Nash in good shape for the playoffs, they need to start planning now. Tonight's game was basically a blowout, and he still had to play more than 36 minutes. Every time he left the floor, the team fell apart.

I don't know who's out there that might help, but I hope the Suns can do something.

I dont know... they've been decent during the year. Tonight was a bad game by both but in general theyve (along with Boris) done a good enough job of holding the fort while Stevie is out. It would be nice to pick someone else up better, but I dont think it is the most pressing issue.

I thought that they didn't utilize Diaw's playmaking ability enough tonight. Normally, the offense flows through Diaw 75% of the time when Nash is out, but tonight Eddie was dominating the ball too much and then he'd pass to Barbosa who dribbled for 10 seconds and the shot clock was running out which turned into a bad shot.

House almost shot us out of the game tonight and luckily we had a large enough lead and Boston struggled a little bit so we held on. I think that James Jones's injury is hurting us a lot. Diaw played 46 1/2 minutes tonight and Raja played 46 too because James can't play.

Hindsight is 20/20, but last I checked the No. 24 pick from last year looks like a damn good fast break point guard who plays good defense. What number was our pick again? I bet if West played in Spain we would've been trading up to get him.

I keep hoping the Suns can move Jim Jackson in a trade by the trade deadline (perhaps in a package with a pick or whatever) for a PG.

Elindholm, I think you are being a tad hard on House and Barbosa especially based upon tonight's play. However, as you may recall, I have been pushing forever for the Suns to get a backup PG for Nash although I think House and Barbosa can fill in for this position if a quality PG is not available.

Steve Nash really had an off game tonight. I hope that he does not have a nagging injury. This would make your quest for a backup PG even more relevant.

Barbosa is adequate IMO. He's not consistent, but I don't see that as a necessary component of adequacy (especially for a backup).

The really good backup PGs are all starting for other teams.

I'd probably be happy if the Suns could get anything of value for Jim Jackson by the trade deadline. I know that Anthony Goldwire has been around the league but I would mot mind having him on the Suns' bench if Jackson could be moved. I think he was like NBADL player of the week... not that it means anything.

However, I would hope there might be better options out there. There was alot of talk about Deiner a while back. I'm not sure about his game or if there is any upside.

Barbosa can run a little...

House... as long as he stays hot, it's fine I guess.

I would rather have Barbosa run the floor more but whenever he drives, he always keeps his head down!

Didn't the Suns draft Goldwire in the 2nd way back in like 97?

Jimmy Jax was the only guy who the Suns looked to move and failed.

I was hoping the Suns would trade their own 2006 first round pick (looks like around 25 or 26) for Diener.

Here's why

The Suns have traded out of the first round in the last two drafts, there is a reason and it is based on first round contracts. No need to tie up a guy unless you can find a Parker or Barbosa late, this draft probably does not pose that potential.

Diener is on a second round contract, so next year is a team option. It would provide the same flexibility that we acquired in Skita. If we want to keep him we can if not let him go and sign a FA.

Orlando has a bunched up back court and obviously clearing cap space for next summer. Diener's 750K might make the difference in an offer to a potential FA or provide an opportunity like we had we signed a player for position on the cheap (Hunter in '04)

I would not be shocked if the Suns traded out of the first round or took Euros and let them stay. It would take a very talented player to get into the rotation next year and money will be tight.

Anthony Golldwire was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the second round (52nd overall) in 1994 and waived the same year. He is now 34 years old.

Ouch, how time does fly.

I wonder what Charles Claxton is doing now (he was the other pick in that draft, but went back to school and never played for the Suns). The Suns always need help in the middle.

Yeah, I saw Malcolm Mackey at Fry's the other day. I introduced myself and he asked, "Paper or plastic, sir?"
