SOUTH BEND ― Notre Dame women's basketball will start its quest for a national championship Friday when they host Stephen F. Austin in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Fighting Irish (26-5) earned a No. 3 seed in one of the two Birmingham regionals. They will face the 14th-seeded Ladyjacks (29-5), who won the Southland Conference to earn a berth into March Madness. By earning a top four seed, Notre Dame will host the first two rounds of the tournament.
