Why in the world are they back in the Top 10 after a lucky win against that disaster of a team called Michigan St and a blase' win over Stanford? Sure they ran for 200+ against Stanford but holy smokes, it was STANFORD after all with the worst rushing defense in the country I believe.

Notre Dame always gets too much credit.

Notre Dame is vastly overrated IMHO. Some of the Stanford players were talking about how the team defense had nowhere near as much speed as teams they've already played. You have to remember Stanford is missing all of their top WR's they're playing freshmen and a walkon at WR. That and some OL injuries mean they can't protect the QB long enough to throw the ball well(much like the Cards) but they were all saying they had guys open they just couldn't pass protect long enough.

I think USC will kill Notre Dame, and I think Cal is going to beat USC this year.

Ummm, how long have you followed College Football? This is Notre Dame! Don't worry, they will go to another BCS Bowl and get hammered by West Virginia, Louisville, Boise State, California, or anyone else - take your pick. BTW, they will get that BCS bowl bid with two loses (USC will beat them again), then you should really get pissed off! But it won't do you any good, they are the darlings of College Football.

Unfortunately probably true.

When you have an entire network pushing you it seems to make a difference.

It's because they are Notre Dame and that's why I hate them. They are always too high in rankings and may be back in a BCS bowl this year and they won't deserve either they've been to the last 2 years.

I lived in South Bend for a while and I'm no Notre Dame hater, but in a way Notre Dame is the prime example of the glaring problem with College Football. The powers that be allow the almighty $$ to guide this sport away from pure fairness (which should be the hallmark of all sport especially amateur sports).

The incestuous relationship between NBC and Notre Dame is the root of the non dilemma. $$$$$$$$$$$

Notre Dame has been mediocre for most of the last 15 years and has made it to very few BCS bowl games. Last year they lost three games. That's the fewest they've lost in many years. Those three were Michigan State, USC, and Ohio State. Michigan State was in overtime and USC was on the last play of the game. The Ohio State loss was a blowout.

This year again, they have a senior dominated team recruited by Ty Willingham. The defense is slow and undersized. The offensive line is mediocre. They have no speed receiver and a smallish, slow starting RB.

There are only 14 players left in the junior class and 9 in the sophomore class and most of those 23 players are people the elite programs didn't want.

The Irish are 5-1 because of the offensive brilliance of Charlie Weis, the talent and guts of Brady Quinn, a very good TE and two tall WRs with good hands (neither of which is fast enough to play on Sundays.)

They are rarely overrated because they haven't been good enough to be rated at all.

My guess is they will lose their bowl game to a superior team with speed. The USC game is a toss-up. USC has better athletes but isn't playing well.

Notre Dame haters will love next year when the Irish starting 22 will all be sophomores and true freshmen from Weis' two excellent recruiting classes. Too young to compete successfully with a tough schedule.

So hate away bozos, we Domers thrive on it. We will soon be back among the elite.

Warranted or not, being in the Top 10 qualifies ND as being currently elite.

5 of the 6 teams we played were undefeated at the time we played them. The high ranking was earned but it won't hold. The defense is too bad to prevent an upset somewhere.

In my opinion, Michigan is underrated and should be ranked #2 behind Ohio State. Losing their best WR is a killer though.

I see Ohio State, Michigan and Florida as being about equal and in a class by themseves.

I agree. My homerism wants to put Louisville just a small notch below those teams with a good chance to move up (hey why not). Weis will get things back on track in ND. Heck, he already has.
