What does this version have that the original release didn't, if you don't mind me asking?

I could go look it up, but since you have it, I figured you would know.

My wife and I both really like The Iron Giant.

Well, just about everything is different.

The transfer is brand new, they spent a LONG time working on this movie--it had been rumored to come out something like 2 years ago, but got delayed all the way until next week.

There is a commentary on the new one with Brad Bird (who incidentally voiced the character of Edna - the fashion designer to superheroes in The Incredibles) and a few other animation people. Looks like there are 8 deleted scenes including an alternate opening and a Giant's Dream Sequence...

And then the biggest thing is probably the 13 branching documentaries that I'm guessing complete a much bigger documentary.

There's some other stuff on there, and a few things that were on the older version--like a vintage "making of" and a music video. The DVD-ROM stuff is exactly the same.

Definitely a movie that deserves a special edition, and it doesn't disappoint.
