I'd be interested to know what percentage of 2nd rounders and undrafted players make up teams starting lineups. I don't think it'd be more than 20-25 percent. 1 per team, maybe.

I know Mikal Bridges is a bit redundant with JJ, but I'd trade up for him if he slips past 10. I think he has the best superstar potential that is being mentioned as a possible non top 10 guy. Reminds me a bit of Kawhi.

BK, Book, JJ, Mikal, Ayton

I may or may not have screamed so loud I scarred my child when we traded for Mikal. She’ll get over it. Rosen, Ayton, and now Bridges... life has been good this year.

If PHX keep #31 & #59 I hope they take either Brunson or Carter & Omari Spellman. Ulis and Williams could be the odd men out but I think PHX is in need of an upgrade over both.

Edit: ATL just took Spellman.

Suns need a legit PG but I can see them getting a lot of mileage out of running the pick and roll with Booker and Ayton and kicking out to Bridges & Co for threes.

Why is Mikal redundant? Neither JJ/Warren are 3&D guys...
I was simply lumping him into the young SF position regardless of skill set. However, they are both potentially great wing defenders.

I cannot believe we just walked away from this draft with Ayton and Bridges. Wow. And we didn't have to give up JJ to do it. It should be really interesting to see what happens to Warren/Bender/Chriss in the coming months.

Also, even though McD did another phenomenal job at the draft, I would have jumped all over Robert Williams in the early 20's. I can't believe he dropped that far. The only thing I can think of is that he has a mystery ailment we aren't privy to. Not sure, but getting him at #27 is nonsense. I'd offer all sorts of stuff for him right now. Boston got a steal.

I'm also bummed we missed on Shamet. I thought he had a legit chance of falling to #31. I wouldn't have traded up for him, but I really like the guy.

I don't hate the Elie pick. (Mostly because I don't get too bent out of shape about guys drafted at #31 in most drafts. But like I've been saying, this ain't most drafts.) He's just a hot mess on D. But the guy can play and score, so that's good. I still would have rather had Melton, Carter, or Thomas. I think Melton has a good shot at being Gary Payton Lite.

I'll have to catch up on George King. I know nothing about him.

Again, McD absolutely nailed his first 2 picks. My grades:

Ayton: A+
Bridges: A+
Okobo: C-
King: TBD

I heard it was his work ethic, a questionable knee and some off the court concerns.

Look, it's pretty simple. Today's NBA is dominated by 3 "positions": Bigs, Wings and PGs. We arguably got the #1 big, the #1 Wing and depending on who you listen to, a PG that falls in the 2nd-4th best in this draft. I'd say that's pretty good.

Trying to determine lineups now is moot because there will be changes coming.

I would be beyond stoked. He’s undersized but his crazy athleticism and versatility would demand court time. I could see him being a very effective small ball 4. Particularly with Ayton and a strong and defensive oriented JJ.

And we might have got the better Bridges.

Agreed. But very different players. I don’t think Mikal has the stature or sand in the pants to see much time as an undersized 4. I know JJ can put in some time there, but it’s not exactly what I’d envisioned. That said, as a player I’m stoked to add Mikal. I think we overpaid for him, but that doesn’t lessen my enthusiasm for what he will actually bring to the table for the team!

Begs the question.. what % of NBA minutes does that 40% actually see?

I don't maintain a record of where players were drafted. My guess is that the non first round picks get around 18-23 % of the minutes. About half of what first round picks get. Heck, that could well be a high guess.
