The Saints confirmed today that 4th round pick Chase Lyman tore his left ACL in a non contact drill recently. Lyman tore the same ACL 7 months ago in the Cal/USC game and missed the rest of the year for Cal. He suffered so many injuries at Cal he petitioned the NCAA for a 6th year as a medical hardship, but was denied. He had such a great combine and pro day he went from likely UDFA to 4th round WR, and now he's out for the year again.

What a tough break, really pulling for the kid he's a local kid to me went to highschool not all that far from my home.

He had some outstanding games his junior year at Cal. To bad for him, hope he still got some fight in him. Back to back rehab for the same injury is hell.

He sounds alot like Drew Carter from Ohio State. He hurt his knee in college and then ran a ridiculously fats 40 and got drafted bt Carolina and promptly blew out his knee in camp. He's said to be wowing them again in camp this year and will be a 3rd or 4th WR for them.

Lyman had 5 years at Cal. Missed all of 2002 with a bad hamstring tear, missed part of 2003 (ankle) and much of 2004) ACL. IN 5 years he started only 8 games. Too bad really talented kid, good size, strong, good speed, great hands, great competitor. Without the injuries he's a 2nd rounder IMHO.

Too bad, great kid, seen him do interviews before he keeps saying he's not bitter about the injuries. The way he handled the NCAA rejecting his bid for a 6th season was classy.

But I fear this will put an end to his NFL career before it ever starts.

Dolphins' Poole expected to miss season

NFL.com wire reports

MIAMI (May 9, 2005) -- Miami Dolphins cornerback Will Poole is expected to miss the 2005 season with a knee injury suffered during minicamp.

Poole was a leading candidate to replace Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Surtain, traded last month to Kansas City.

The Dolphins fear Poole torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, said his agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

"We think it's pretty significant," Rosenhaus said on Miami television station WSVN.

The Dolphins declined to comment. New head coach Nick Saban limits information released regarding injuries.

Poole, a fourth-round draft pick in 2004, played in 15 games last season. Other contenders to replace Surtain include Travis Daniels, a fourth-round draft choice last month, and veterans Reggie Howard and Mario Edwards.

And the injuries begin...

I read the other day Poole had gotten hurt but it sounded like it wasn't serious then. REally sucks, Miami has got to be pretty desperate at CB now with him out and Surtain traded.
