I just bring this up because I posted this 2 week’s ago. This week both Peter King (I know) and Mel Kiper have predicted Barkley to the Giants. For those of you unaware former Giants GM Ernie Accorsi was the mentor that helped Kiper get established and Mel still has a good line of info coming from there. Now it’s certainly possible this will change before the draft. Few things in life are more unpredictable than the draft. It’s just seemed like this year quite a few people seem to think I’m just throwing stuff out there to see what sticks. It’s true many of my old contacts are gone but I give this board best info I have from the most reliable sources I know. I’m just trying to help.

I just watched Kiper's draft on this.

It could also be a smokescreen to make Cleveland take Barkley at 1 and be happy with whatever QB is there at 4

I think the Giants may surprise everyone by signing a UFA QB, perhaps one of the 3 Minny UFA QBs (assuming Teddy B isn't tolled). They might be higher on Davis Webb as their developmental QB than people realize.

Without question, their interest in S. Barkley is legit. Add a prolific RB to their skill players at WR and TE and their offense could be top shelf no matter who the QB is.

The #2 pick is the time for a FQB. Never want to end your season with this high of pick and when you do you have to get that FQB especially when you have a QB nearing retirement. Eli could be their bridge guy ---in the same way that Warner was the bridge to Eli for the Giants.

Of course, if Giants are really sold on Webb (or someone else available in FA or trade) take Barkley and don't look back. He is the most dynamic O player in the draft.

I think too that NYG are a favorite to draft Barkley, with a similar thinking but not because they are high on Webb, but because they are disfunctional.

But the result should be the same.

Look out to see NYG getting Barkley if the Browns can't get Cousins or Foles.

I think there is a line of thinking at Giants HQ / ownership that goes something like:

1. Eli is old, but isnt done. We have 2-3 more years with him if we surround him with talent.
2. We had a playoff like defense in 2016 -- maybe with some tinkering, we get it back in 2018.
3. Coaching was a disaster, and we just fixed that.
4. Back to Eli: what could make life easier for him than Saquon Barkley. Add him to a healthy OBJ, plus Evan Engram at TE -- its a pretty nice set of offensive weapons.

That would be shortsighted, IMO. This is their best position to pick the QBotF that they'll have in years. It's strikingly similar to the year the Colts were able to get Luck to replace Manning.

I for one appreciate everything you bring to the board Harry. Some of the newer guys probably don't know of your past work history so they may not realize how valuable your information is. ;)

A QB will be taken with the 2nd pick of the draft. It may or may not be the Giants with the pick but a QB will be selected there.

Maybe, but if they build a team that can contend for the next year or two, then they would be in position to trade away draft capitol to get a QBOTF in a year or two as well. I can look at it either way, but IMO the second pick would be a QB on my board. I have Barkley around 9 on my big board, but I do focus my board on what I think the Cards board would look like.
