OBJ injury starts another get rid of turf movement among players

Apparently half the NFL fields currently have turf and data seems to suggest serious injuries, apparently non contact injuries are quite a bit higher on turf than grass.

A bunch of prominent players are again lobbying the NFL to come up with something to protect them.

Most of the domes open up, these days...For the ones that don't and for the ones that still can't get good sun coverage, the NFL can just add a resodding budget per stadium and have the turf replaced every few weeks. That's a lot cheaper than paying guys millions to not play or potential lawsuits.

If this still seems costly, you can add grow lights. You can definitely grow grass in the dark.

Arizona has shown it can be done. Poor LA, stadium already obsolete.

Maybe players should stop signing with turf teams?

Sure I get that but the NFL has always emphasized player safety and this is a pretty big issue for guys like OBJ.

The 49ers are front and center on it remember the game, I think against the Giants, where Bosa blew out his ACL and 2 plays later Solomon Thomas did the same thing? They both blamed the turf for the injury. During the SB Deebo Samuel tweeted out that the NFL needed to ban turf.

Growing grass indoors absolutely can be done. Marijuana is grown indoors, so why not the other "grass"? Right @BigRedRage ?

He's actually not the one complaining it's other players that watched him blow out his ACL completely non contact like that.

Field turf is different than “Astro” turf.

I played his football from 1990-93 in Mesa.

I went 13 years before I put the pads back on (did so at 31).

Part of what made me feel invincible at 31 ifs was hitting the ground when being tackled felt like a foam (and not caliche).

I was a huge proponent of field turf after playing it as an “old man” (wish I grew up playing the game on that surface).

F OBJ. I destroyed my ACL at 33 (wearinG shells and a helmet, on a HS softball field).

Field turf is a great surface for this violent game.

In cold weather soccer stadiums in Europe, they have heated fields where they can control the temperature of the ground underneath it and virtually grow grass all year round.

I feel like if it could be done well, it would be being done. Everyone has agreed that grass is better than turf for decades.

As far as I know, our stadium was revolutionary for the nfl in that it had natural grass in an indoor stadium. Maybe I'm wrong, but like I said I feel like there is a reason it's not happening, and it's not about being cheap. The teams want to reduce injuries as well.

I’m just saying, todays turf (“field turf”) is way different than what they used to have in Minneapolis or NY back in the 90’s. Field turf is a nice surface.
