Yeah, I know the "Protect the Nest" things was just a marketing scheme and all.

But still that Cowboys game, at least to me, is HUGE. I would hope Whiz and company know that they are an old rival that is still hated amongst the common fans.

That is going to be a REALLY tough game for us, but still. WIN! Just beat the flippin' Cowboys and I could care less if we go 1-15.

I'm still waiting for the time when our home games are HUGE because of what is at stake rather than only because of who our opponent is or if its Monday night.

We haven't had that since the San Diego game in 1998.

I'm pretty much there too. My first expectation of the season is to beat these guys.

FTFY

We HAVE to beat the Foreskins this year. I cannot take watching us (Rackers/Dockett) give them another win in Washington. My biggest wish of the season is to come home from that game with a broken nose, two black eyes and the satifaction of victory.

Anyone coming up for the game BTW??

I'm trying not to go there despite the fact that their phoenix fans are terrible. I have always thought it was silly to have your #1 rival not even in your division.
Arkansas is that way with Texas when it should be LSU.

My first expectation for this season is going 5-1 in the division and the tops would be a win in Seattle.

A Trip Down Memory Lane...

My first and only trip to AZ to attend a Cardinal home game was "back in the day" when Dave Baker (any of you old timers remember Dave?) started a movement to fill the seats with Cardinal fans in order to hold Team Felon fans at bay.

A bunch of us got together for a steak dinner the night before, and I tailgated with Reino (JRein) before and after the game. (It was the legendary Butthead OT bank-shot victory after which the fans tore down and took off with the goal posts).

Hordes of the Felon "Faithful" - who walked the streets of Tempe all decked out in Felon-Blue - for some mysterious (heh heh) reason, removed their tee shirts, caps and jerseys on the way out of SDS after the game.

I still occasionally stay in touch with guys like "CPanicu" and note that Zeno still posts here occasionally; but have lost touch with BPrice and RPrice, NazDrew, NetSport, PDon, Reino etc.

An important story-thread underlying our relationship with the Cardinals over all these years has been the development of the franchise in Arizona.

We've come a long way, Baby!

I remember the day the posts came down, fondly

People in Austin asked me what the deal was with Cards fans tearing down the goal posts because that was a college thing. I explained that the Cards/Cowboys game was just like the Texas/OU game with half the fans for one team and half for the other and was also played in a college stadium on a college campus.

They had no problem relating. I don't know of any other pro team that has had their fans tear down the goal posts after a game, at least in recent memory.

We're just special people, Cardinal fans.

A 10-6 season is a reasonable goal. If we happen to beat the Cowpies in the process, that would make the season that much sweeter
