I'm sure you put a great amount of time into your thread & I like some of it. But, you will need to go back & change your very first sentence. Graves may very well be gone, but Whisenhunt won't be. The sooner everyone realizes that, the more realistic these off-season moves will be.

What???

Our QB plan is Chase Daniels and Tyler Thigpen?

We trade Levi Brown for a FA in Chris Ivory?

The best OG in Andy Levitre will be had for $4mil? Ben Grubbs got $7mil last year and Carl Nicks got $9mil.

Oh, and the cap savings. Bradley, Kolb, Colledge, Snyder and Dockett all have cap hits due to the guaranteed money left on their contracts. So yes you save, but you also eat a portion as well.

Kolb $6mil cap hit if cut.

Docektt $9.75 if I am reviewing it correctly (which I may not be)

Colledge $4.5mil cap hit if cut

Bradley $3mil cap hit if cut

Snyder $4mil cap hit if cut

So while you have cap savings, you will also be hit with $17.5 mil in dead money if I am wrong on Dockett's numbers and $27.25 mil in dead money if I am right.

I like reading your plans when they are well thought out, but this one just isn't.

Mitch, Why are you wasting a 4th round pick on Mauti. He is an injury waiting to happen. 3 bad knee injuries in college alone. The latest coming in the next to last game this year. I would take a flyer on him as an UDFA since I don't think any team will touch him in the draft due to his injuries.

Rebuttals:

1. Daniel with Pete Carmichael as OC could be a very good answer. I stand by that. With the QB options---any QB signing is going to be a "could be good." As I said I was trying to dive for a pearl here---they seem hard to find these days.

2. RB Chris Ivory is a RFA (perhaps you really should try to get your facts rights, especially when you are accusing others of not)---the Saints will need a LT if Bushrod leaves. The Cardinals need a RB and could save some cap money by dealing Brown. Maybe they could get even more for Brown.

3. With Levitre---or any of the FA signees, a lower cap hit for year one can be easily arranged through the spreading of the signing bonus. Plus, Levitre is not nearly in the Nicks, Grubbs conversation.

4. With the cap hits on past signing bonuses---the Cardinals can decided to defer a cap hit on some of the players until the following year. You know that rule.

5. The Cardinals could always ask Fitz to restructure for cap purposes. Fitz wants to win, right?

He's good and worth a 4th round pick, imo---even if we have to play Paris Lenon for another year.

Plus, the mocksters have him going in the 3rd to 4th round despite the injury.

While I get looking for a pearl, sometimes grabbing leftovers and trying to make a gourmet dinner just isn't a great plan. Identify a QB you like in the draft, draft him, and then mold the offense around him.

Ivory was an undrafted FA so even if the restricted tag is put on him, you can sign him without giving up a draft pick. All you have to do is make an offer that the Saints will not match which shouldn't be much because he is inactive on gameday with Mark Ingram, Pierre Thomas, and Darren Sproles.

I am pretty sure cap hits can only be deferred to the following year on players cut after June 1st.

For Kolb he has 6mil remaining on his original signing bonus and has 5.6 mil remaining on his roster bonus. He is due another 2 mil bonus if he is on the team in 2013. His base is 9mil for 2013 so 5.6+6 = 11 mil - 9mil ( 2013 base) and that is 2.6 mil Cap hit for 2013 if he is let go.

For Dockett has 9 mil remaining on his option bonus minus his 4.45 mil (2013 base) = 4.55 mil Cap Hit.

For Snyder has 4 mil remaining on his signing bonus. 4 mil - 2.9 mil (2013 base) = 1.1 mil Cap hit.

Colledge has 4.5 remaining on his signing bonus and 2.325 remaining on his restructured bonus. He has a base of 3.8 Mil. 6.825 Mil - 3.8 mil (2013 base) = 3.025 Mil Cap Hit.

Bradley has redone his contract so i really dont have all the numbers. Lets just say its a 2 mil Cap Hit.

Total
Kolb - 2.6 Mil
Dockett - 4.55 Mil
Snyder- 1.1 Mil
Colledge- 3.025 Mil
Bradley - 2 Mil

Total= 13.275 Mil Cap Hits

As a avid PSU follower Mauti has had three surgeries on his knees, 2 for ACL and one for MCL. He is really damaged goods. I agree he is very good when healthy however the odds of him lasting more than a couple of years in the NFL are pretty remote. I would rather draft someone who will actually be able to hang around more than a year or two.

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW COULD BE POSSIBLE to keep a head coach after one of the worst offence performances i have ever seen ,3 years in a row with crappy offence.the Bidwill has to go either ..they are like the cancer for this franchise..they care just about money and not care about winning..if u want to be part of a franchising..u must have winning attitude or fans cant follow u forever
