Do you think the O line is that bad. Or is it the coaching blocking schemes? How can a defensive end be unaccounted for week after week? It doesn't matter who is at right tackle. If the line is that bad, it will take years to repair and we are in for much more suffering. If they are trying to play a different scheme that other teams and it's not working, then there is hope. Anybody who knows offensive line play please respond. Are Shipp, Arrington, and James all bad? How do other lesser teams all seem to run the ball better?

I think some other posters hit the nail on the head. I think Green is baiting the team into firing him so he gets next year's salary. If he quits, he doesn't get the money. If that's true, which it may or may not be, I hope he never coaches in the NFL again. You don't tank a season, you just don't do it.

He was demoted to a lesser position on the team. Could the Cardinals do the same with DG? Make him the OC for the rest of this year and next year? That would be poetic justice.

It's easy for us to say "throw away $4 Mill", but it's harder if it's your money and there's no clear superior choice around. Oh, I still wish they would do it--after all, it's completely covered and more by the naming rights profit.

Before Green was hired, some posters favored Jim Fassel, who recently got canned--any interest?

I disagree. We're much closer talentwise, than everyone think. We're a 1st round pick for a pass-blocking RT away from having a solid line. I truly believe that.

The problem IMO is Green (and this boils to the rest of the coaching staff) is the Anti-Bellichick.

Bellichick is known for two things.

He's arguably the best prepared coach in the league. It's been stated and "proven" in several threads on this board that we're arguably the worst prepared team in then league.

The thing Bellichick is known for is his ability to use the players in the best way possible. Veteran players are willing to play for Bellichick for less money, because he always find the correct position and situation to utilize that player's abilities and make that player "shine".
Green is terrible at that and the OL is the best example of this. The players have never been "fitted" to the scheme we're running.

Wells could be a good guard in the pure zone-blocking scheme like Denver's or Atlanta's, but not in our scheme. He has played out of position all three years under Green. He a C or blindside OT in our scheme.
Ross was too slow to play RT with Warner at QB, but no adjustments were made when we got a left-handed QB. Ross is a G or strongside OT in our scheme.
Big has struggled big time with pure pass-rushers (resulting in a bunch of FS) as the blind-side tackle. Big is fast for his size, but too slow to be a blindside tackle in the NFL. In our scheme Big's best fit is strongside OT or G. Yet, he has played blindside for 2½ seasons.

The same can be said about Griffith plaing FS (he's a natural SS) and Rolle CB (CB in the right scheme, but probably a FS in our current scheme)

Arrington seems like a marginal return man at best. He appears to me to slow down when he is about to be hit. Still lacks heart in my opinion. I do not know how many fumbles he has but am worried every time he is hit? We change the offensive line so much we will never know if it can be good or not. It usually takes a few years for an offensive line to develop. If we cannot keep the same guys in the same position for even a month we are totally lost. I do not think Green and his staff know what they are doing with the offensive line. I wonder just how much authority Green gives his coaches and if he is second guessing them all the time. He does not appear to be a guy I would want to work for. I wonder if he can even spell responsibility?????

This is where we strongly disagree. Our OL is so bad that talking about it every Monday is a complete waste of time.

We're a LT, C, and RT away from having a line that can show up every Sunday and give us a chance to win. LD doesn't work at LT but can work at LG, Wells is garbage, Leckey is garbage. We are 2 offseasons away from being able to put together a decent line and that's if the Bidwells open their wallets to allow that to happen. If those idiots would have gone after Bentley or Mawae last offseason, we draft a top OL in the first round of the '07 draft, and then sign one FA OL this coming offseason and we're looking good going into '07. It sucks being a Cardinal fan
