This conference is insane. Harmeling got shut out against UCLA, Low lights it up. Tonight Harmeling goes for 28, Low goes 1-12?

tough loss but now we have a 4 way tie for first with 2 more teams at 2-1.

Well, there goes the Pac-10 championship...

The Cats choked. Oregon is good, but this was a game the Cats had to win. No defense=no championship. The non-existent bench is only going to become more of a problem as the season goes along.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if they get swept in L.A.

The Ducks do it again. First they knock off UCLA, now Arizona on the Road. Let's give them their due.

16-1 is hard to try and argue with... I think Arizona can still pull it out if they pull their heads out of their :moon:..... I think it COULD come down to UCLA, Oregon, and Arizona for the Pac 10 title... time shall tell.

Yep and they beat UCLA without Malik who was huge today. Brooks is having a monster season and the improvement in Taylor and Hairston is obvious. Did Ernie hire new assistants I find it hard to believe he suddenly learned how to coach himself? I know they say the players did their own offseason conditioning and I know Taylor spent the offseason working out with his dad on taking the ball to the hoop more but it seems like Oregon's a much better coached team this year too? The ball movement on offense makes them REALLY hard to defend.

I still can't figure Arizona out, is that low FT attempt number by opponents because they're so soft on defense they never foul, or because they play quite a bit of zone and don't foul?

UCLA saturday will be interesting, Shipp says he'll play (uncertain on ASU yet). Both UW and Oregon zoned UCLA and had some success so I'm expecting to see UA do it too, Shipp is huge for us against zones because he can hit the 3, slash, and he's a terrific offensive rebounder. SO if he can play it'll really help. My primary concern is Marcus Williams I don't think Luc is going to be able to handle him off the dribble.

Let's face it. After several years of 'lack-luster' talent, the Pac-10 is REALLY good this year.

Both are a result of the lack of depth. Starters are told to stay out of trouble and the zone is often utilized to conserve energy on defense. Arizona is among the most athletic teams in the country so defense (perimeter defense especially) should not be an issue, but these guys simply cannot afford to pick up cheap fouls by being aggressive because of what's behind them on the depth chart.

I guess that makes sense. Generally when you see that kind of stat you think favoritism(duke) or just really bad defense. They do allow a pretty high FG% (47 in conference games) but UCLA is allowing 45 in conference so it's not just that.

UA plays at such a different pace than UCLA it's hard to make a fair comparison.

I just hope UCLA doesn't look past ASU definition of a trap game coming off huge city rivalry, with huge real rival due up on Saturday, quite easy to overlook the 0-6 ASU team.

Teams have been overlooking ASU all year and they are still 0-6. Other than Jeff Pendergraph they barely have mid-major talent and Sendek still hasn't figured out a way to get him the ball. UCLA's second team would beat ASU in Pauley.

Yeah mainly that's the kind of team that UCLA has struggled with this year, too many slow starts in the first half.

No comment on Wise, that's really going to cut into the UA depth even more not having him?

BTW boy is Marcus Williams playing well these days, that's going to be a murder assignment for UCLA I would assume Luc will take him.

Let's just say that Wise has had his two best games of the year last weekend. Tells you how basd JP Prince must have really been. Sometime offering a kid in 8th grade works out (Bayless for example) and sometimes it does not. Not ready to permanently shut the door on his career, but I'm guessing he will never start a game for Arizona unless there's an injury or something. Jerryd Bayless will start at PG as long as he is here and either Laval Lucas-Perry or '08 PG thereafter.

I read on a UofA board that Nic will be playing on Thursday. They mentioned Nic will talk about his situation today. Honestly, from what I was told I would be very surprised if Nic plays at all this season.

Yeah there's a hilarious quote from McClellan saying he went through the same thing before himself.

"I've been through it, unfortunately longer than him," said guard Jawann McClellan, who was academically ineligible for the first semester last season. "The NCAA has their rules, and I'm not agreeing them..

Hopefully the reporter got it wrong and he said not agreeing WITH them, or we'd know why Jawann was ineligible?

:D

The initial reports said there was a chance Wise would not be out for the year if he could get a paper in for one class and get the professor to change his score so that may have happened.

Shocko. Dismayo. Never thought that would happen. ;)

I think this one is legit. It sounds like Wise took an incomplete on a course for some reason and submitted the needed paper later to get a passing grade. This is an option that's available to ALL students at most schools so it sounds like nothing is rotten here.

Although as a UCLA fan I am wondering why their academic kids always get reinstated right before they play us?

:D

Russ is right, if you get an incomplete in a class you have till a certain date to get the needed work completed and turned in (Usually within one semester of recieving the Incomplete). It sounds like he may not have been responsible about it (tardiness) but he got the work completed. Happens all the time

When does football start?

Haha. The Cats lost something when they lost to Washington State, whatever edge they had is gone. Lately they have been exposed as an incredibly soft team that can't finish. Hopefully they can turn it around because they have a lot of talent.

This team has no bench, which means all five starters have to play well for the Cats to be successful. And McLellan, Radenovic, and Budinger have been awful the last few weeks. Budinger is a freshman so he has an excuse, not sure what the problem is with the other two.

Seriously, I'd rather watch the football team try hard and go 4-8 than watch this garbage.
