I never worry about guys running slow at the combine. Jerry Rice ran slow. So did a bunch of great players. There's track speed, and then there's football speed. The two are different. Plus some positions, like OL, who cares how slow they are? Can they pass protect and open holes for running plays? I'd take 5 elephants on OL over 5 Cheetahs.

Not at all athletic, so major improvement is unlikely. He probably won’t be much good at pulling which is Cards scheme. His top is a backup as he’s ferocious in pass protection. Therefore he can be pressed into service if needed. He’s a hard worker.

SCOUTING REPORT: SUMMARY

The film shows a safety whose explosive athleticism jumps off the screen, particularly when attacking downhill or carrying receivers vertically. His background as a running back manifests in fluid hip transitions and natural burst out of breaks, traits that mesh perfectly with modern NFL coverage demands. The natural progression from special teams ace to defensive playmaker at Nevada reveals a player whose best football lies ahead.

Defensive coordinators running split-safety schemes will find immediate uses for Crawford's skillset. His range to cover ground in zone, physicality in run support, and man coverage ability against tight ends create a versatile chess piece for sub-packages. The special teams impact gives him day-one value while the defensive skills develop, reminiscent of how Adrian Phillips carved out his early NFL role.

This evaluation points to a mid-Day 3 selection who brings core special teams value with legitimate defensive upside. The combination of elite speed, coverage versatility, and proven third-phase impact presents a clear path to early playing time. For teams seeking secondary depth with special teams prowess, Crawford's film shows a player ready to contribute across multiple phases while developing into a potential defensive starter.

Has all the tools but never got the chance or coaching to develop. At Nevada he at least got to play. He’s very raw except for special teams, where he was outstanding. An impact tackler, he makes his presence known. He’s so raw it will possible to put him on the practice squad if they can’t carry a guy who just plays special teams. He stunned some people at the combine with his potential but it’s hard to go from where he is to a regular player while in the NFL.
